The Shivah: Kosher Edition now available for pre-order!
12 November 2013Pre-order it now and get 20% off!
So earlier this year we ported Gemini Rue to iOS, and it was reasonably successful. It was, however, a collosal undertaking. Eight months of fulltime work for Janet (who actually went to school for programming and is much smarter than I am). Since we just had a baby, we decided our next port would be The Shivah – the very first game we ever made. It’s short, and reasonably straightforward. So we figured it would be a quick and easy port.
Sadly – NO! The Shivah was made seven years ago. This was before games on iOS phones was a thing. Before even iOS phones! The game was made with very tiny sprites – sprites that were impossible to see on a phone.
So what to do?
WE REMAKE THE WHOLE DARN THING.

The Shivah: Kosher Edition will be available for Windows, Steam and iOS on November 21st. And until than, you can pre-order the PC version for 20% off! Steam keys, as usual, are included.
Wow, this looks great! π I played the original and just ordered the kosher version. Can’t wait for the release…
Thanks! We can’t wait either. π
The Shivah is one of the greatest, most original games I’ve ever played. Good luck with the kosher edition.
Great stuff! Can’t wait π
WoW I love it! Will you rlease it in Steam as well I would love to add it to my Steam (PC) Collection! :3
Sorry just read STEAM KEYS YEAY!!!
That looks awesome. I’d love to be able to play it on Linux. As Valve is preparing to release their own Steam Machine solution, that’s definitely gonna be the platform to play adventure games on.
It will probably work fine under Wine (not speaking in the name of the publisher, of course). The demo does.
I was able to play it on Linux, using the open source version of AGS, though I had to make a slight modification to the source code since it uses an external plugin. Basically, I just had add a function to let the game know that it’s not running on a mobile phone.
(I’ve submitted a patch to the AGS developers.)
Would love to grab this right now but I don’t have paypal. I have every other game Wadjet Eye developer or published on Steam and would love to grab that too. Steam will probably release it at EUR 5 for me, which is quite far off the preorder’s USD 4. Any other way to buy early?
Todor:
Paypal lets you pay by credit card even if you don’t have an account with them. You will still get a Steam key even if you buy direct from us, but if you’d rather wait and buy it on Steam, you can do that too!
Thank you for your response, Dave! I just asked a friend with a paypal account to gift me the game, so all is good now. Naturally, I prefer buying directly from indie devs. I imagine we circumvent Steam’s revenue cut that way. They owe you more than that for the Blackwell mess and they can get their hefty slice from the thousands of kids buying the new Call of Duty anyway! π
In closing, thanks for making and publishing awesome games! You keep on rocking, you hear! Love from Bulgaria!
Awesone. I might get this for GOG.com
Please tell me that you will let Rosa’s cameo be a little bigger in this one.
Maybe let Rebecca Whittaker record some lines?
These look really awesome, especially the last one – fantastic lighting.
I was looking forward to getting this game soon. So glad I was waiting (still haven’t finished Gemeni Rue and Blackwell)!
Not sure which platform I’ll grab this on though. I really like the iOS port of Gemeni. I’m glad more of these are coming to mobile platforms. Personally I wish it was Android, but that’s only because my tablet is a Nexus 7 and not an iPad. Still, playing these on my iPhone is great.
Looks great.
Is there some additional content in PC version over iOS one that would explain the 200% higher price?
Any chance folks who bought the Wadget Eye Bundle in a Box will get keys? Or no go, since it’s now Kosher?
Man! How did I miss the pre-order for the Kosher version?!? It is out just in time for Thanksgivukkah, too! So I will suck it up and buy it anyway π For those still undecided: I bought the original and loved it, and I think the updated voices, graphics and music will make this terrific storyline that much more immersive!
[…] The graphics from 2006 may not seem appealing to mobile and tablet owners, and in the end they’ve decided to enlist Ben Chandler’s help to redo all of the character art, backgrounds and portraits. Samples of difference between the old and new screenshots can be seen in this post. […]
I just bought it on Steam! I LOVE IT! <3
