It worked for me too!  I'm really excited that a solution was found.

Seriously I've been following this thread for weeks, now that a solution has been found can you release the fix already?

Hi Wintermute.  The biggest problem with releasing this fix pre-maturely is that it will make all your previous savegames incompatible. This is an AGS engine issue, unfortunately, and there's nothing we can do about that.  So we want to make 100% sure there are no problems before releasing it, so we don't ruin everybody's savegames twice.

If you are having trouble yourself and would like to try it out, email me.

-Dave

Enough people have tested it so it seems like it's good to go.  I'm going to be applying uploading the new version of the game today.

Sweet.  Also, I bought the game on Steam rather than direct from here, does that make a difference to anything?

Yes.  It means your game will update automatically.  Or it would, if the Steam publishing system doesn't seem to be throwing errors at me.  This might take a tad longer. :)  Once it's up, I'll be letting everyone know.

Doesn't seem to be working for me.  Still the same thing - freezing on the "Loading..." screen with the rain sounds.

Ah, rats.  It's defaulting to the wrong mode.  Here's what you do.  Right-click on the game, then select "properties" then "set launch options."  Type "--setup" and hit OK.  Run the game again and the setup window will come up.  Switch "DirectDraw" mode to "Direct3D" mode.  I'll send them another fix so it runs this way by default.

Hi Dave, thanks for fixing the Gemini Rue & Win7 64 bit issue. But some of us are encountering this issue now...

would you happen to know how to fix it?

thx 2 gaiasgrace for the image - who originally posted the same problem i have @ the AGS support forum

edit: forgot to add that my version of GR was played on Steam. if you need further information etc, do let me know and i'll provide it.

hi! i bought gemini rue on 12/26 directly from here (via BMT Micro), and i'm seeing this problem on win 7 64 bit too, with directdraw. when i try with direct3d, as suggested above, i get an error dialog: "There was a problem initializing graphics mode 640 x 400 (16-bit). (Problem: The requested adapter mode is not supported.)"

is there any way i can check to see if i have the updated version with the bug fix? i suspect i don't, since when i click on the Advanced button in setup, it says Adventure Game Studio v3.21.1111, but the error dialog screenshot above says 3.21.1115.

thanks in advance!
