Commentary?
« on: July 23, 2009, 11:51:25 PM »
Finished playing Blackwell Convergence yesterday - great game, as usual! - and then played it through tonight with commentary. Emerald City came up a couple of times during the commentary and it got me wondering if there was a similar track for it. I looked, but didn't see anything. I'm not missing it, am I? I really enjoy the commentary and would love to play through Emerald City with it. However, if not, keep up the great work!

Hi Starrynight!  Emerald City was published by PlayFirst, and they are very conscious about keeping the download size of the game as low as possible.  I offered to do a commentary track for ECC, but since it easily would have added 10MB to the game so they didn't like that idea.  Since Blackwell is published by me, I have no such restriction. :)

I figured as such. Well they're all great games. Can't wait for the next Blackwell installment!  ;)

Aww, I wish you could release it as a patch or something for people who'd want it.

Bizarre idea, but what about a side commentary to the game? With the jewels marking the progress of the game, you could easily create something along side that said, "Play when after the 2nd green gem" as a for-instance. Only place that gets tricky is the split between Winkie country and Quadling Country, but I suppose that could be a preface for those two branching options... (Unless they did like me and try to play both at the same time, which results in one cut scene upon arrival at the second and... I think I'm starting to spoil the game at this point.) Just a proposal of a way you might do it, if you truly wanted to.
