Unavowed on MacOS - Initializing mouse: failed - no mouse...

Hello Wadjet Eye Games and hello Mr. Gilbert,

As a big fan of most of your games, I just acquired Unavowed via GOG for MacOS (High Sierra). The game launches and displays version 0.8.8 in the bottom right corner. However, the mouse is not recognized:

/Applications/Unavowed.app/Contents/MacOS/Unavowed ; exit;
Adventure Game Studio v3.4 Interpreter
Copyright (c) 1999-2011 Chris Jones and 2011-2018 others
ACI version 3.4.1.13

Initializing allegro
Initializing game data
Located game data file: /Applications/Unavowed.app/Contents/Resources/ac2game.dat
Opened game data file: game28.dta
Game data version: 49
Compiled with: 3.4.1.14
Setting up game configuration
Setting up window
Initializing TTF renderer
Initializing mouse: failed

I use a regular Microsoft USB mouse, after googling this issue for a bit I suspect that the code for initializing the mouse needs fixing, but I am not sure about it. Except not being able to use the main menu and play the game, it runs, i.e. audi and animations in the main menu are working.

I asked GOG support as well, but since the problem is -I think- with the game code itself, I suspect they won't be able to help me.

Is there perhaps a quick/dirty fix for this? I'd like to just plug in a different mouse, but I am on holiday and got this game specifically for it, there aren't any computer stores I could visit now. I can provide whatever info you need, but I am not a programmer and not familiar with allegro, so I wouldn't know how to fix this myself. I play other games just fine on this, for example I have Steam with about a dozen MacOS compatible games and they all play fine, as well as other GOG games.

Thank you for your time and have a good Sunday :)
