Ok, so not all the questions really are about the end, but they're more about how everything ties together. First, let me say that I really enjoyed this game. It was fun, well-written, and very well brought together. But now that I've completed the game, there are three questions I don't understand:
- Who blew up the boat? Ozma wanted the spirit rod, as did Cutter (or else, he wanted Ozma to have it so she can wake the witches). Neither would benefit from its destruction or Anzel's death, nor, for that matter, from scaring Anzel into hiding as a decanter. So who did it?
- What was Dee's angle? She was left as a loose end, disappearing between the first part of the game and the second part of the game. What did she want the rod for? Was she acting as Ozma's agent, or did she have a different agenda?
(Actually, I guess the only criticism I'd have of the game is tied in to these two questions - the two halves of the game, before and after you get the rod, while each independently great, don't entirely fit together very well, either in tone or in the fact that the plotline and Petra's role in it seem to take an abrupt turn)
And one final question:
- I'm really unclear about the chronology of the (first) Phanfasm war. In several conversations, Petra is mentioned as having deserted while the war was going on. She desrted because she got news of her brother's disappearance. But at the end, Ozma said that William was given as a condition for the Phanfasm's surrender. Doesn't that mean that the war would have been over before Petra learnt of this and had a chance to desert? Ozma's prison speech implies that she thought the sacrifice was worth it (long term consequences notwithstanding), so it doesn't make sense that the Phanfasms took the child and immediately broke the agreement.. So what exactly happened?
