A so-called 'casual' game...
« on: February 19, 2009, 12:13:46 PM »
I'm looking forward to playing Emerald City Confidential, but, forgive me for being naive, I'd never heard of 'casual games' before reading about the release of this game and PlayFirst. (You'll probably wonder where I've been, as I realise now that it looks like a massive market...) This raised a question for me: I love adventure games, but I was wondering if the fact that this game has been released as a casual game means concessions needed to be made in terms of puzzle difficulty, compared to a 'traditional' adventure game?
I hope not!
Any thoughts?

Hi Em!  What an appropriate forum name for discussing an Oz adventure. :)

The only major concession was the addition of a hint system which you can access if you get stuck.  It was the best way of easing the usual frustration of adventure games while still keeping what makes them fun.  Other than that, it's an adventure game like Blackwell or Shivah.

The name is pure coincidence, it happens to be mine!

Great, I hope I won't be too tempted to use the hint system.
The game looks absoultely gorgeous. Thanks a lot!
