sam durkin - the cop

i only just started playing this game but the cop named sam durkin is that the same or related to blackwell unbound durkin?  i forget if the son was called sam but i think he was, anyone know?

They are supposed to be the same character.  I even got the same voice actor to play young Sam. :)
