Native Resolution...
« on: March 09, 2016, 08:54:22 AM »
Good Morning Dave,

I was just wondering what the native resolution is for Shardlight?  I am using a 46' TV with a resolution of 1920x1080 and I seem to be messing around the nearest-neighbour setting quite a bit to get the game to display in a way that is satisfying to me.  I had to do it for Technobabylon as well.  Is there a standard native resolution for AGS that you use for all your games?

Best Regards,

Daniel Porter

When I play Shardlight on my TV I just use the "maximum nearest neighbor" filter and it seems to work just fine. It should be set there by default. In what way is the result "not satisfying"?

Maybe satisfying was not the right word...the game is beautiful, I love the art style.  What I meant was, I am not sure I am playing at the resolution that was meant for this game.  Like I know AGS probably has a limitation on the what the maximum res can be.  I just want to get as close to the resolution that the game is meant to be played in.  TV's have a weird way of setting resolutions as they only support certain formats.  When I set the game to "max nearest neighbour" It sets it to 320x200 in the settings GUI, but my TV is actually displaying at 1920x1080p.  It looks good like that...so I will just leave it at that setting.

Sorry to nit pick Dave...I just want to make sure I am playing your games at the resolution they were designed for.  But don't worry, I love the game so far!

Best Regards

Daniel...

When I played on my laptop, I noticed that it puts a black border on either side of the screen, but when I would hook it up to my tv for testing, it fit the screen perfectly and looked like it was supposed to.

This was playing it fullscreen with the max nearest neighbor filter setting.
