I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not sure I see the connection.  I did play Halo (the first one) about a decade ago, so it's possible I'm subconsciously appropriated ideas.  What's the link?

Interesting!  I think it's just coincidence, though, since I don't believe any of that lore was in Halo 1 (the one I played).  Incidentally, I believe there was also a Halo novel called Primordium or something, which always comes up when I'm hunting for Primordia reviews. :)

I think you're more likely to find that both have a common source.  The conflict between charity and clarity goes back quite a ways in literature; depending on how you define it, you can find it in the Bible, in Candide, the Merchant of Venice, Les Miserables and others.

If there is conflict, we need an arbiter.  It's a standard conflict and standard terminology for expressing avatars of these ideas.
