I got the Primordia Demo work on WS9Wine 1.5.18 fine, no problem. In older Wadjet Eye games graphics get messed up and blinking however. I've tried a couple other Wine engines but found no improvement. Superluser, can you tell which engines have worked with other games?
(I hope this isn't too off topic for this forum, which is devoted to Primordia alone)
1.) If you're not a power user, stay away from the 1.5.x releases if possible. They are development versions and may be buggy. I made that mistake a couple of times, judging from the versions below.
2.) I would recommend Wineskin 2.5.8 WS9Wine1.4.1 for all of the games going forward (barring future updates). I run Mountain Lion.
I started playing Wadjet Eye Games with Gemini Rue, and I was hooked, so the dates and versions start with GR as the earliest and go from there. I haven't played The Shiva, Downfall, The Adventures of Fatman, To the Moon, Emerald City Confidential or Da New Guys and can't comment on those.
Gemini Rue was Windows XP emulation with Wineskin 2.3 WS7Wine1.3.25. I seem to recall that that setup was glitchy with the sound, but the game was playable, though (sadly) not as enjoyable as I'd like.
Blackwell Deception was Windows XP emulation with Wineskin 2.5 WS8Wine1.3.34.
Blackwell Unbound was Windows XP emulation with Wineskin 2.5 WS8Wine1.3.34.
Blackwell Legacy was Windows 7 emulation with Wineskin 2.5 WS8Wine1.3.34.
Blackwell Convergence was Windows XP emulation with Wineskin 2.5 WS8Wine1.3.34.
Resonance was Windows 7 emulation with Wineskin 2.5.5 WS9Wine1.5.6.
Primordia is Windows 7 emulation with Wineskin 2.5.8 WS9Wine1.4.1.
On occasion, the program has difficulty starting (i.e. the icon shows in the dock and then disappears), but usually restarting the program makes it work. I've not had any serious glitches with any of them.
I'd love to see these some of these Wadjet Eye games supported natively on Mac, and if any of the staff wants a beta tester, I'd be willing to help out with both testing and debugging (I've corrected programming errors on cross-platform projects before), but I'm satisfied to see these programs running in emulation.
Edit: I forgot that this was Adventure Game Studio, and as such that the codebase is not something that you can really reprogram. The offer, such as it is, still stands, though it's rather moot until AGS is in a usable state on other platforms.
