Umlauts in German Steam version needs fix
« on: August 15, 2012, 03:12:43 PM »
Hi all,

in the German Steam version the umlauts are damaged. It seems that the font "Munro", which was used does not have umlauts! Now that is sure fixable, but
the font is not installed under \Windows\fonts, so how can I fix this?
Where would I find the font?

Regards,

Bussibär

Hi Bussibar. If by "German steam version" you mean that you bought the game on Steam and activated the "German" drop down translation, than yes. That doesn't work. I would have removed the that option from the setup window entirely if the AGS engine would let me.

If you want a fully German translated version of the game (including voiceovers!), you need to buy the one from Germany. I am not allowed to sell that version myself, which is why it is not on Steam.

Hi Dave,

hmmm, buying the same game twice? No way!
This was not really clear, when buying it. I should have known that buying
games on Steam is just a bad idea!!!

I don't talk about the speach here. I talk about the subtitles.

doesn't matter. if it officially contains german subtitles, it would have been mentioned on the steam site. speech gets an extra full audio support annotation like:

so you did get what you paid for...

I don't care. I'm the customer. They got to please me, not the other way round!
I stop buying!

Hi Bussibär,

The information page stated that it was English only, and that is what you received.  It is true that the German option does not work correctly, but that is because the game is - as the information page says - English only.  The German option wouldn't have been visible to you until you purchased the game and played around with the settings, so I am curious how you thought there was a German translation available before you purchased it.  Obviously there was confusion somewhere. If you could tell me how you came to that conclusion, that would help me a lot.

Unfortunately, I am not in a position to give you your money back since you bought it from Steam. If you would like a refund, you will need to contact them.

Hi Dave,

yes, you are right! I checked with my friends who were recommending the games
on a retro platform. They were telling me that they have bought the game on steam.
In the end it was not true. It turns out that the one who was claiming it, did in fact
buy it with a computer magazin and forgot about it. I did not check steam good enough, correct! Well, but I refuse to accept that I have tomatoes on my eyes and come to the conslusion "Don't buy games on Steam"! They don't support Germans.
basta!

The main reason why the German version isn't on Steam is because I'm not legally allowed to sell it there! The German version's sales/distribution rights are owned by Daedalic, so if they want to sell it on Steam it is up to them.
