One thing I was wondering is that if you can do a certain thing to give you a hint to solve another puzzle, but don't have to (totally made up up example; give man a cigarette so he'll tell you to check the nearby dustbin, you check the dustbin and find the key you were looking for) and each of those stages give you points, if you do the final thing first, do you get all the points for that puzzle or just for the solving step? In other words, if a 5-step puzzle "block" has 10 points for solving it, can you get all 10 points by doing the finishing step first, or do you have to do each step to get 2 points each time?
I ask this because I noticed myself getting points for doing extra little things that helped me solve a puzzle but weren't necessary, and then other times I got a lot of points for just one thing, as if it was retroactively rewarding them.
