Dialogue speed issue? (minor spoilers)
« on: June 25, 2012, 04:50:50 PM »
I'm having an issue with the dialogue speed. I'm currently in Anna's second scene after getting out of the ducts. It happened first when I reviewed the memories she finds while in the ducts and again once I've made my way out. The dialogue speeds through automatically very, very fast. It wasn't an input issue (ie: holding down the ESC key) as I tried reloading an autosave after turning my keyboard off and still experienced the issue.

It continued into the second part of the scene and I simply can't read what she is saying. In retrospect, the very first time I ran the game I accidentally skipped through the opening news coverage scene and once it went into Ed waking up, his dialogue sped right through also but I didn't really realize it as I was aiming to restart the game to catch the opening scene.

Any help would be great as I'm really enjoying the game and would like to keep doing so :)

So restarting Steam didn't fix it, but restarting my computer did!

I've actually had this issue twice. Both times were caused by opening the Steam overlay in the game. I fixed it by re-opening the overlay and then closing it by clicking on the on-screen "close overlay" option rather than by using Shift+Tab. There seems to be some kind of problem with how the overlay interacts with the game and how the overlay controls "leak" into the game.

For the Overlay issue, you can also just hit Tab again. The Steam Overlay seems to have problems with some games.
