Game breaking bug
« on: June 24, 2012, 01:25:09 AM »
Problem: Unable to leave area (Edgetown), no exit arrows
Situation: Was trying to get key out of Todd's locker in Forklift area and thought I must have missed something along the way.  Went back to ?Edgetown and now unable to leave.  Can only move from Post office area to backalley doors.  2 hrs progress lost if loading from last save game.  Any help would be appreciated.  Enjoying this game very much.

Hey b12, welcome!

Did you try to re-load the autosave? Should be the first savegame on your load screen (map view).

On a side note, you won't find the solution in Edgetown.

Could you be more specific? What exactly did not "work" reloading autosave?

Reloaded autosave sucessfully, situation unchanged.
Walking to edges of screen does not trigger map screen.
Only arrows visible are the ones to and from the alley (these work fine).
Unable to leave area otherwise.

I see. So the autosave function saves in the Edgetown scene, not prior at map view. That would've been easy.

Sorry b12, either you might want to consider re-loading your last save (knowing the puzzles up until then, it probably won't take 2 hours anymore) or wait for Dave or Janet Gilbert - though I'm really not sure they'll be able to help.

EDIT: Nevermind, I checked it. You did find a bug indeed.

Sure, thanks anyway.
I think it will prob be faster to redo than wait for fix ... unless anyone knows a quick way to modify the save game?

Yeah, def. be faster to redo it. Especially considering it's around 3am in New York right now.

Just checking....but did you walk ALL the way to the left past the post office? (where you entered the screen). This area wasn't used the first time Bennet was in Edgetown, so it's easy to miss. The lone exit arrow is all the way to the left.

No, don't worry, it really is a BUG, unfortunately.

Sidescrolling for the particular section you've mentioned is deactivated due to this glitch.
Which in turn gets you stuck effectively since you're not able to see/click on the area where the arrow 'would be'.

I ran into the same problem today. :(

Any fix coming soon? Or should I just replay from my latest savegame?

Not meaning to beat a dead horse, but have you taken your characters all the way away from the exit before trying to leave? You probably know where the exit arrow is, since you already left at least once, but I'm just trying to rule out alternatives.

Also, what are your computer stats and what (besides going to the warehouse first) did you do leading up to the bug? It would help for the debugging.

Finished the game after redoing a few of the puzzles.  Much faster second time round.

But in case this helps:
Computer stats: Dell XPS 410, Core2Duo E6600, Win7x64, GTX 460, 3Gb DDR2

Game had progressed up until finding the warehouse.  Did not have required tool to get key at time but was able to visualize it.  Left warehouse thinking to backtrack to the only other existing locations (Ed's apartment, Police station, Edgetown).  Went directly from Warehouse to Edgetown and was unable to leave.  As Tramponline has mentioned, the exit arrow location is offscreen with no way to get there.

My computer stats:
MacBook Pro (playing on Windows7x64 over Bootcamp), Intel Core i7 2.7GHz, Intel HD 3000 Integrated Graphics, 8GB DDR3 RAM

The poster above me described the situation leading up to the bug perfectly. I also wanted to backtrack and went directly from the Warehouse to Edgetown.
