Poor graphics in small window
« on: June 15, 2012, 11:05:17 PM »
Hi guys, I am running Gemini Rue on Win 7. Specs are fine and managed to run the game eventually but graphics are poor and unable to play it in full screen. Searched the forum for a solution but no luck.
Any ideas on how to get the game working?
Here is the snapshot on what the game looks like while running. Very difficult to navigate. Oh BTW, running the game on desktop.

Hi Calvo. Not to pass blame or anything... but boy did Merge Games ever mess up the retail version. So sorry about this.

On some modern Win 7 computers (usually laptops), the "Program Files" directory has a bunch of extra security that prevents a program from writing to other files in the directory. That is what is happening here. The winsetup.exe file is trying to update the configuration file, the operating system stops it from happening, and it spits out an error.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling in a directory that is NOT the Program Files directory. Let me know if that works.

edit: If you continue to have trouble, let me know and I'll give you a code for the download version on my website. You've already sent me proof that you own it. :)

I know this thread is a little old now but I'm having much the same issue, and now when I click to play Gemini Rue (via desktop shortcut or from the folder) it jumps straight into the game rather than the options of play, uninstall, etc.
DaveGilbert, is there any chance you could hook me up with the download link too (or suggest some way of fixing this, I have tried what I can, and looked on a bunch of forums for fixes but nada)? Of course I will provide proof of purchase in any way you want - I bought the disk version.

Hi Crunchy. Sure thing. If you could email me some proof that you own the game - say, a photo of it - than I will hook you up with a download.

Hey, maybe a quick fix but try defaulting to fullscreen via the keyboard:

cmd + fn + F11

Did that work for you?
