Obviously I am not qualified to troubleshoot this problem (I don't even own a Mac!) but I posted on twitter asking if anyone was successful in getting the game to run under Mac emulation and if they could drop by the forum to help out.
You are too kind, Dave.
Actually, in this case, you probably are too kind. The whole thing looks to be caused by my eagerness in getting my hands on a copy of Resonance and trying out the whole Memory Inventory concept.
It appears that there is a multipointer mouse library in OS X called XInput2 that doesn't play well with Wine (the emulation software), and a lot of people are having problems with some other software (like Skyrim and CounterStrike). The particular implementation of Wine that I'm running even includes a version called NoXinput2 that turns off that library, and when I run it with that, it seems fine, and I was able to successfully complete the demo using Windows 7 emulation.
I should probably have been using the 1.4.x stable series of Wine instead of the 1.5.x development series, but I forgot and upgraded to the most recent version. I might test the stable version and let you know how it goes.
So, sorry about the premature bug report. I am happy to report that all seems fine, even using unstable development emulation, the game is a blast, and I'm really looking forward to... gosh, tomorrow already?
Anyways, thanks a bunch for being so awesome, Dave!
