I'm trying to pre-order the boxed collectors edition game from your site but for some reason the checkout is adding 23% VAT to my order (I'm from Europe)

How come is it doing this when it's not required for physical items? From the BMT Micro site:

The European Union has passed a law requiring non-EU companies to collect Value Added Tax (VAT) on sales of electronically delivered merchandise and services to customers living in the European Union. This law went into effect July 1st, 2003. This does not apply to items that are physically shipped. The VAT is calculated based on the country in which the customer is located. Below is a chart with the current VAT percentages for each country.

That sounds great! But what if one already pre-ordered it? I live in Europe as well and ended up paying that silly VAT.

I've asked BMT if they could remove the VAT and retroactively refund everyone who already paid it. They are usually very reasonable so I don't see why they wouldn't do so. It's Saturday so they might not reply until Monday, but I'll keep you updated either way.

I would purchase any game from this developer. I pre-ordered Resonance as the digital download. I think I perhaps misunderstood when I read somewhere that it comes with bonus digital material available immediately. I received no such items, links, promises, or thank you. Did I misunderstand the advantages of this pre-order or are there any?

It's so wonderful to be able to dialogue directly with a game developer, rather than filter through some faceless corporation's India-based automated email "customer support" system.
Seriously, you remind me of the days of old school LucasArts/Sierra/et al adventure gaming long long ago. Everything you do just seems to have that sense of joy and freedom and ambassadorship.

Can't wait to play Resonance, can't wait to see what's next from WEG.

Hi Greybeard. You should have received an email from GoG with links to your freebies. If you log into your GoG account and look up your Resonance order, there should be links listed right there. Let me know if you still can't find them.

Bit of an update. BMT has removed the VAT from the product, and they will refund everyone who has paid it so far.

Thanks for the info Dave. I received NO emails from GOG except to provide a link to my account. When I go there all there is is the game coming soon. No freebies. I guess I'm doing something wrong. Nevermind.

greybeard, I got the same thing. Follow the link to your gog account and click on the Resonance "virtual box", it'll list "bonus content downloads" available now, which for me are:

-wallpaper
-poster
-soundtrack
-developer diaries
-avatars

hope that helps.

Quick question to Dave and/or anyone who's already looked at them: do the developer diaries contain spoilers? I tend to look at such things after I play the game because they usually do, but if they're spoiler-free it'd be fun to look at them now.

Hi, I'm desperate to pre-order the game for all the bonus goodies, but is there a way to pre-order it for Steam instead of gog.com?

I know you get it when buying the physical copy, but I'm not yet decided on whether to buy on or not...
