Hi there,

First congrats for the fabulous game you have made. I'm enjoying it just as old school adventures ;)

I bought the game in Steam and when I'm playing and the character dies in a gun mode play, and the game automaticaly reloads the last autosaved game, it happens many times that only half of the screen is drawed (the one my character is in). The other half of the screen is not properly drawn, only the enemies are ok, the rest is usually in black with random color pixels somewhere.

This is a minor bug as I can perfectly continue playing. It happened also in non gun play scenarios but only once I think.

Sorry for my english as it's not my first language.

Regards,

Felix.

Hi Felix.  This happened to a few other players, and they managed to fix it by switching the game from Direct3D mode to DirectDraw mode.  To access the config window, right-click on the game in your Steam library, then select "properties" and then "launch options."  Type "--setup" and then click OK.  When you run the game again, the setup options will come up.  There's a drop down window labelled "graphics driver" (or something) which is currently set to Direct3D.  Change it to DirectDraw and click the "save and run" button.  Knock on wood, it should work!

I have the same issue. Would switching to DirectDraw rendering have any negative effect on quality/effects...? Thanks.

Running AGS games in DirectDraw mode sometimes conflicts with Win 7 Laptops, which is why it's in Direct3D by default.  If you switch to DirectDraw and the game starts up OK, then you shouldn't have any problems for the entire game.  If the game refuses to run, you can still play in Direct3D.  Just don't save/load your game in a room with rain.

Forgive me if you've covered this elsewhere, but I'm having the same issue as described above, but did not purchase the game through Steam. (I went through GoG.com) I'm still trying to figure out how to switch it to DirectDraw mode. If you have any tips it would be much appreciated!

Can you find a winsetup file in your game folders? If you double-click it, it should open a small config window. I'm not quite sure for GoG, but I hope this helps.

Edit: I just checked the forums and someone asked about running in windowed mode and the reply was about opening the winsetup config, so you should be able to do it that way. Check your GoG folder in your Program Files.
