Game-breaking bug fixed?

I remember reading about there being a bug that can render the game unwinnable. Did it ever get fixed? I'd like to buy the guy but I'm holding off until I'm sure.

There's really no win or lose to this game.  It has a cliffhanging type finish but there is no winning in it.
Hope this helps and if you have played and liked the others in this series, you will want to nab this one also.

I was actually talking about a bug I heard about that could render the game unfinishable without starting over.
