Enjoyed this a lot

Hey,

just wanted to thank you for one of the best adventure games I've played in the last years. Great story, nice puzzles, good voice acting. The only thing I didn't like was having to play with the screen shaking that heavily in some scenes.
Apparently, the game has been available for quite some time. It's amazing how you can completely miss games/series or even indie development studios for months and years. I'm just glad Gemini Rue got picked up by Daedalic and reviewed by Gamestar in Germany.
Shame on you, Steam, for not making this game known to me sooner.

Well .. that's it. I'll probably try your Blackwell games the next time I get bored.

Yeah I just got this game in an indie bundle.  I was never into puzzle/adventure games like this during the "golden age" of the 90's.  Grim Fandango, monkey island, full throttle and the like all passed me by.  I enjoyed Machinarium but found the puzzles way too hard and too many seemingly out of place (want to open this door? solve this block pushing puzzle!).  I usually have to consult walkthroughs and by that point the game just isn't fun.

But this game, I've been able to figure everything out without too much frustration.  So long as I keep plugging away at it, I'll move on.  The gun-play is a little janky but as a non point-and-click adventure game player I really love this game.

It seems like there's a lot of backstory and universe lore going on in the game, is there a place to read more about it or is it purposefully kept vague?

Thanks guys!

@Baronjutter You can use the in-game terminal to research more topics about the lore. Try things like 'Gemini War', 'Harmony', 'New Earth', 'Center 7', etc.

this is such a great game!!!
i already thought this game had parallels to memento but when azriel suddenly said "i have this condition, just like sammy jenkins. do you know sammy jenkins?" and "i have this condition, i wake up sometimes in a hotel room, there's nothing there except the gideon bible. have we had this conversation before?" i just couldn't stop laughing.

the conclusion also reminded me of memento very much and this is a compliment because i loved memento :D

//EDIT:
btw i'd like to know in which way you have to do with ron gilbert (he was referenced in the credits?)

@fuerchter I don't know him personally, but his games (Monkey Island and others) played a big influence in my life and in getting me to start creating games in the first place.

yeah, i just read your postmortem article and that made it pretty much clear :D

btw it's great we can actually chat with the main developer here on the forums i guess that comes with being an indie developer? ^^

//EDIT:
also i'm thinking about playing the game a second time. what i always wanted to know during my first playthrough: are there dialogue choices that change the story permanently?
(spoilers in white!)
such as when you get to chose whether balder or epsilon five gets to go on the escape

btw
on the reveal of sayuri you mentioned in the article. i already thought she'd be the escaped prisoner when i saw her, she somehow looked like she'd be the only character who might have escaped center7, so i was a bit disappointed when it was revealed. the same goes for matthius. it would have been a bit more ominous if you just let matthius be addressed to (by the director) as beta two and not let him reveal his identity in the gunfight (because by then the player already guesses that)
