The Blackwell series / Re: [spoilers for Epiphany] Joey's story
« on: April 26, 2015, 08:52:56 AM »
I don't know why it was Patricia Blackwell being chosen, but at least i see why Joey has been selected by "the Universe".

After all, he was the very last soul being saved by Jocelyn and Madeline, before "the Countess" banished/corrupted her spirit guide.

However, I just can't believe it takes 30 years to create another Bestower. There must be some hidden reasons.

I would like to ask a question :

4°) Why Joey was tied with Patricia Blackwell at first ?

There are a lot of persons in the world, so... why her ?

Dave's story, Dave's ending. In my opinion, the perfect ending would have also brought Lauren back to life, and she would have reconnected with Joey on the bridge while he dumped Rosa's ashes into the river. They would both have lost their powers. It always seemed to me that the relationship between Joey and Lauren was different from his relationship with Rosa. They could have lived out a normal, albeit, undocumented life, together.

Yeah, i agree with you. Rosa spirit could have appeared in her own head and asked her aunt to go out. The love/hate between Joey and Lauren would have been wonderful. And seeing Dr Quentin's face when he sees Lauren in flesh would have been funky too :P

Alternatively, it might have ended with a role reversal in which Joey was alive and Rosa was the ghost. That would have been funny, but it wouldn't have ended the series. Rosa could have gotten even.

Edit: Oh, and instead of Joey's tie, Rosa could use those sexy earmuffs.

Haha. Who knows. But it's true, it's still an open ending. Dave can makes Rosa (or Lauren?) reappear but as a spirit guide :D And that launches a new series of Bestowers ^_^

Now I'm sad....
On another note was meeting Gavin more or less an accident and i doubt Rosa would have hunted them down, she wasn't very prone on Genocide.

Let#s just hope future Bestowers will fight the bad apples as good as Rosa did.

Gavin was necessary. If he didn't force Rosa to banish Joey, he wouldn't have freed Madeline, and Epiphany as we know would never have happened.

The game is very nice, with an unexpect turn of events. That's nice, to see Joey even learning new tricks.

And there were stuff i would have like to see in this game (*warning huge spoilers*):

- Dr Quentin face if he was able to see Rosa's waking up and talk normally to him.
- Other spirits than Joey to lost his  "ghost ability" (like Madeline, and Lauren), it might be a shock for Doctor Quentin to see her, and it may have been interesting epilogue that way.
- Joey going to see Dr Quentin and giving him some answers :P
- dictaphone records. I would have love to see Rosa find some records from her aunt and listening it.
- Patricia Blackwell. It would have been nice to understand her point of view.
- How Madeline was "invading" the body of Lauren/Patricia. Since she was in the void at that time, she was doing in a different way than with Rosa.
- A couple of ghost who was arguing against each other.

Well that's all and see you for the next bestowers. Who knows, it might be Joey (and Lauren/Rosa as his spirit guide ?) :P

The Blackwell series / Re: Joey's Motives

I was replaying the Blackwell games, and something got me to thinking.  Sometimes, I wonder how invested Joey is in his situation, aside from his own hopes that he’ll someday fulfill his quota and be allowed to cross over.Whew.  Sorry for the over-analysis.

Hi, i was curious about that as well, and here's some theories.

Some factors that made me wonder (game spoilers!):

•   In the Legacy game, he threatens to make Rosangela’s life a living hell when she moves to confess his existence to Lauren’s doctor.  He says the same thing to her at the end of Convergence.  Did he actually try this on Lauren while she suffered her own meltdown?Whew.  Sorry for the over-analysis.

It's very simple, he wouldn't know how will react the doctor about the "truth".

Will he put Rosa on an asylum ?
Will he do some experiments on her ?

I don't think the doctor will laugh and do nothing. Because if Rosa is unable to do her "work", she will "burn" like her aunt.

And if you were Joey, would you like to be stucked - a second time - in a room for like 40 years ? I don't think so, and that's why he was aggressive to Rosa.

To finish, I would like to see the doctor as a ghost, just to mess with Rosa and Joey "adventure".

•   His agitation when Lauren took it upon herself to reconnect with her family, i.e., Rosa's parents at their wedding.Whew.  Sorry for the over-analysis.
Why are you sorry ?

Joey said in Legacy, that there were a little girl who needed to be "saved". And the fact that he doesn't like taking "breaks" (like going in Josie's gallery the 1st time).

If he's into 100% into his job, it's maybe because he doesn't know how the crazyness works for the mediums, so he just want to finish the "saving" as soon as possible...

•   His panic in Convergence when Rosa yanked the Countess into herself.  His final words before she woke up weren’t “Please be alright,” but “I’m not spending 20 years over another hospital bed.  Get up, or I’ll kill you!”Whew.  Sorry for the over-analysis.

Maybe it's because he was afraid of the worst. If Rosa was killed by the Countess inside her own body, what will happen ? "Rosa's corpse" will be in a lifeless state, until the day she dies. So like for Lauren, he will be stucked in a hospital room for 20-40 years.

Obviously, being stuck to two women who went crazy would be no picnic—but how personally involved is he in the welfare of his hosts?  He starts to release some emotion for Rosa in Deception (which I thoroughly fangirled over) when Gavin tries to suck her dry.  But is it just a “biding his time,” “saying ‘nice doggy’ until you can find a rock’” relationship?

If Joey help Rosa/Lauren, it's because he's like that.
If a friend is in danger, he will not think about the past, only the present.
Do we know how close he was to Danny when he saved him ?

Whew.  Sorry for the over-analysis.

Lol, don't worry.

it's not that "hard" (compared to other puzzles) decoding that stuff, it took me around 1-2 minutes to decypher the 38 pages :D

Compare the coding and the way the letters are showing, you will find the pattern.

there's still some stuff to do in Tortoise security ;)

I was expecting some twist in the story, and i wasn't suprised :D

There were some crazy puzzles, and it looks like there are more than one solution to complete them.

Here's my score :

- Achivements : 26/37
- Points : 316/340

Hi Dave,

What about adding english subtitles lines on the letters for a future language translation? (The player click on the current letter to see the subtitles).

yes, i found that scene a kind of cute.

Who would have expected seeing Rosa being jealous ?

The Blackwell series / Re: Thoughts on "Danny Boy"
« on: October 17, 2011, 01:36:10 PM »
Even if it's suggestive, i think that Joey died when he saved Danny's life, and this act of goodness turned him as a spirit guide; because Danny's "destiny" was to die that day, not Joseph.

But as usual, it's my point of view ^_^

i agree bout the respawn thing. but i doubt Rosa would be able to handle 2 sprit guides.

Yes i know. Maybe one medium can have only one spirit guide. But i really believe i'll see Madeline next to Rosa and Joey in the next episode.

I'm not sure if it was just me, but the ending made me really sad. Like Joey getting locked in "nodespace".. and then I thought the game was going to end there, but I got a surprise. I felt really angry at Gavin too and then he died and everyone was happy. (I think)

Yes, seeing what happened with the demo, I would have expected to see the game finishing with this cliffhanger xD

As for Madeline, I had a feeling she would have disappeared to somewhere else..
I think she "respawned" in the place where the Countess "banished" her.

For me, the ending was rather frustrating. Already I'm pining for the next game. So many questions left unanswered.

Yes, so true. But i always have my little theories. I'll give you my point of view by answering your questions.

"Will Rosa be able to keep the teachings Gavin gave her?"

Of course, she learned a good lesson. She will be stronger now.

"Where did Madeline go after Joey came back?"

I think she go to the spot where the Countess banished her.

"Why was she surprised about Joey's tie and how come she didn't realize what the tie was in the first place?".

Because her link with the Countess was completely different : It was the diner.
(And Rosa destroyed it in Convergence ^_^)
So i can understand her suprise when she saw that Joey was wearing all the time the link with his medium.

These are only a few of the questions I have that I hope get answered in the next installment.
Yes i hope too. But we all know that Dave has already the answers ^_^

Well, my thought is that Madeleine's old 'host' is dead, and when a Medium dies, the ghost moves on to a relative, so that's what happened - it just happened later than it should have done due to Madeline being confined to null space.
I'm not Dave, but here's my theory.

Well, in, my mind i was thinking that the Countess was part of the Blackwell family (maybe Patricia's aunt/grandmother ?), but because she became crazy, it was "decided" to give to Patricia the family legacy with a new spirit guide?

But who know Dave has inside his mind. And of course, I would be sad to see Nishanti or the Dr Quentin becoming a medium.

Yes it's what i thought too. At first, i was wondering why Madeline wasn't with Joey.

But i have the answer. They "respawned" at their exact spot where they were "banished".

To fight against her enemies, Rosa will need help, and i'm pretty sure Madeline will have a big role in the next episode. Maybe she will be Rosa's second spirit guide. All depends of Dave now ^_^
