Chit Chat! / Re: Suggestions for another Wadjet Eye game?

Among your list I would go for Primordia or Technobabylon perhaps. But my real recommendation would be Blackwell Deception (or perhaps The Shivah).

Sexuality and nudity? Did I miss something? I've got to play again.

Unavowed / Linux

Just wanted to quickly say that until now Unavowed runs fine with wine under Ubuntu 16.04. The game's rather nice. I'd really like an Art Deco door like in that elevator.

Chit Chat! / Re: Is The Shivah worth playing?

The Shivah is very much worth playing IMO.

It also works fine under Wine AFAIR.

Chit Chat! / Re: Kathy Rain
« on: February 04, 2017, 03:07:28 PM »
I did try Kathy Rain and I've found it executed well enough to be a decent time killer, but honestly I find the whole paranormal / "weird outworldly things happen and breaches appear in the fabric of reality" trope really tired at this point (up to the point of caricature, such as the dialogue with "Cocky"). Oh, and not to mention the inevitable confrontation of the hero with her painful past memories because, well, every hero has to bear the scar of family tragedies endured in her childhood, right?...

I prefer when adventure game authors explore less traveled topics (see Grundislav). Kathy Rain almost felt like a Blackwell fangame (the whole family madness thing).

Similarly, I have the GoG version on Ubuntu 16.04 and the game doesn't crash on me.

You may want to run the game under a debugger, though I'm not sure that will help a lot. Try `gdb ./GoldenWake.bin.x86_64`, then `run`, then `bt` to get a stack trace once the game has crashed.

The Blackwell series / The Minetta / Joe Gould
« on: June 20, 2015, 08:33:21 AM »

This is really an answer to http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/2015/05/11/in-search-of-joe-gould-part-1/, but I find the forum more practical.

If you go to the Minetta's web site (which is at http://www.minettatavernny.com/), it reads, amusingly:

"Over the course of its long history, the Tavern was frequented by various layabouts and hangers-on including Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, Eugene O'Neill, E. E. Cummings, Dylan Thomas, and Joe Gould, as well as by various writers, poets, and pugilists."

So at least someone there knows about Gould (the webmaster perhaps? :-)).

(and... good God, the wine prices are outrageous :-o)

Technobabylon / Re: Love It!

I didn't find the puzzles terrific. Some of them felt a bit grinding, and the game lacks a hinting system when you're stuck (I had to resort to a walkthrough a couple of times).

Just click on the disk (or the robot arm, I don't remember).

The Blackwell series / Re: Blackwell crashes on Linux

As a data point, it works fine under Ubuntu 14.10 (64-bit).

What about just "Columbia"?

Thanks for the reply. In between I have decided to buy the 4-pack, though, since I didn't have the two first games in the series. This automatically gave me access to Linux versions as well :-)

Epiphany I bought on the Humble Store, but Convergence and Deception I'm almost sure I bought on the BMT store.

The Blackwell series / How to retrieve Linux versions?
« on: January 01, 2015, 06:31:01 AM »

I have several Wadjet Eye games in Windows version that I brought from the Web site's store, and since there seem to be Linux versions now (if I'm reading the forums correctly :-)), I'd like to get those as well. How may I do that? I'm afraid I didn't keep a proof of my buying the games...

Also, I bought Blackwell Epiphany on the Bundle store, and there doesn't seem to be a Linux version. Should there be one?
