The Blackwell series / Re: Unbound finished
« on: September 05, 2007, 02:45:47 PM »
Hi rabbit,
I'm still waiting for my CD-ROM to ship so I haven't played Blackwell Unbound as yet, but I'm very happy to read about your take on the game. Sometimes looking forward to a game is the best part of the whole experience, so I have been worrying just a teeny bit since I really, really am looking forward to this one. Your "pleasant and rewarding" description makes me feel I am waiting for the right game for me! Thanks!

Chit Chat! / Re: Hiya, thanks for both Blackwell and Shivah

I just finished The Shivah and I must say it was so much more than I expected. Since I had already played The Blackwell Legacy, and liked it very much, I thought I would take a chance on a game about a rabbi although I couldn't imagine how it would work. I had read some rave reviews, but I don't take such things seriously. I know what I like and I make up my own mind. Sometimes I agree, sometimes not. In this case I totally agree and now I find myself hoping that there will be a sequel. Or a prequel, whatever! So, Dave, add my thanks to all the rest for two really great games!

Chit Chat! / Re: Blackwell Unbound - pre-order deal!

I pre-ordered the CD-ROM version of Blackwell Unbound yesterday (Aug. 11, 2007) and then I noticed that The Shivah was also out on CD-ROM so I ordered it at the same time. I hope it was okay to do that, or should I have ordered it separately? Too late now, I guess.

Previews / Re: Conversation preview: Rosa and Joey

I just listened to the voices of Joey and Rosa today and it took me back to when I played the game. It also makes me realize why I liked the game so much. A lot of it was the interaction between these 2 characters, I really liked hearing them again. That was so very sweet the way Rosa says "sorry" there at the very end.

Hmm, looks like Joey is having a difference of opinion with the ghost who obviously doesn't want to give up his saxophone or even stop playing it to talk. Already I'm interested to see how this works out.

Already I like Lauren Blackwell and I don't have any doubts at all, even if she does. Of course, that's easy for me to say since I know the game will be good!

I totally liked Rosa and her voice, but then I've played the whole game!  :)

This is really great news! I am so  looking forward to *seeing* (Well, he is a ghost, isn't he?) Joey again.

Hi Peder Johnsen,
To me your Rosangela looks like a cool hippie chick in a tie-dyed shirt and jeans! But I'm old enough to remember the hippie days and you probably never even heard of them. Oh well, I think she is neat anyway.

I read something about a new Blackwell game on the GameBoomers forum. I think it is a prequel to Blackwell Legacy taking place before Rosangela was born and had Joey and her aunt in it. I thought it sounded very interesting and I would like to know more about it.
Blackwell Legacy was so great and I enjoyed both of the 2 endings. Now I am eager for the next game!

Happy to know I'm welcome and I will try not to break anything, but I can't promise! My mouse seems to have ideas of its own and often clicks who-knows-where.

Chit Chat! / Re: Graphical Style
« on: July 11, 2007, 07:15:45 PM »
For me the the graphics in The Blackwell Legacy were a return to the good old days of Sierra and LucasArts and I was quite at home with the style. I found it relaxing and easy to enjoy the game, after all the high tech stuff in today's games that ruin the games since they leave out the adventure fun in favor of the  bloodthirsty fight.
I like that quote: "avoids realism in graphics in favor of realism of scenarios" and I just wish that idea could be gotten across to those game developers that insist on adding everything to a game except characters that one is interested in enough to follow them in the adventure that is the reason for playing the game in the first place.

The Blackwell series / Re: Thank you for a nice game!

Just finished Blackwell Legacy today and totally enjoyed it. It was what I call a "real adventure game" from start to finish. I would really be a happy camper, uh, gamer, if only more games were like it. I get bored with so many of the new games with all their bells and whistles and panning around cameras, and fight scenes that add nothing to the story or the fun of the adventure.
Trogan made an interesting post about 2 endings to Blackwell Legacy. Since I was left with an unused piece of inventory picked up in that last scene, I wondered about another ending being possible if I had managed to use it. So now I will try that ending again!
