The Blackwell series / Re: Special tracks
« on: December 24, 2006, 10:48:53 PM »
Heya Dave:

Any thoughts abt implementing that special Xmas album we suggested at the Pre-Launch Party?

Is this the same party that I threw after 24 hours of not sleeping?  The same party I got quite drunk at?

You might have to refresh my memory. :)

The Blackwell series / Re: cd and dvd slip case cover art

Hi.  Thanks!

I'm actually going to release various CD sets after the New Year for people who want that (or who aren't able to download the game).  But offering the cover art to people who want to make their own isn't a bad idea.  Let me get back to you on that.  ;)

Chit Chat! / Fan art contest: All da rest!
« on: December 19, 2006, 03:27:08 PM »
First off, Grundislav taunts us with a Blackwell Legacy/Ben Jordan crossover:

Next, CosmoQueen gives us a trippy rendition of Rosa and Joey, caught in the rain:

Also by CosmoQueen is a cool little promo picture for The Shivah

Next by Ishmael is probably the best looking Rosa and Joey ever:

Now, I have to admit to feeling a little guilty about these next two.  I lost the original emails that these pictures came from, and I can't remember who sent them.  If you're out there, dear artists, drop me a line so I can give you proper credit.

A tough and bloody-looking Rosangela:

And lastly, an angry-looking Joey, with legs!

Thank you to everybody who entered!  I really enjoyed seeing your versions of these characters.  I'll definitely have more contests like these in the future.

Chit Chat! / Fan art contest: WINNERS!
« on: December 18, 2006, 08:23:07 AM »
And now, I'm happy to present the winners of the Blackwell fanart contest.  These three entries are each worth one free copy of The Blackwell Legacy.

First of is a sweet sketch of Rosangela by Hanako:

Secondly is a cute little cartoonish Rosangela by Dan Clarke:

Last but certainly not least is the spookiest-lookin' Joey ever, by Squnky:

Congratulations, guys!  Contact me and I'll tell you how to get the free game, once it's released.

The remainder of the entries will be presented tomorrow.

A few seconds of in-game action.  This was my first time doing a screen capture movie, and the sound got a bit hissy, but it still should give you an idea.

Chit Chat! / Fanart contest results - runners up!
« on: December 16, 2006, 05:03:00 AM »
Hello! The fanart contest is over and here are the three runners-up!  The three winning entries will be announced tomorrow.

The creators of these three fanarts will receive a free copy of the Blackwell Legacy soundtrack:

First up, we have this painting of Rosangela by "Penguin":

Secondly, by "Chicky" is a painting of Kelly.  This was based on an old design of the character, but since Chicky didn't know that (and the picture is so darn good) I consider it entry-worthy.

This last drawing is a total mindtrip by "Zoot", which I've entitled: Joey as seen through the eyes of Tim Burtin.  On acid.

AWESOME WORK, GUYS!  Be sure to get in touch with me before release day to secure your copy of the soundtrack.

The three winning entries will be shown tomorrow.

The Shivah / Re: Shivah sequel
« on: November 30, 2006, 10:37:30 PM »

There are a few designs that I'm working on, but nothing 100% hashed out.  My original plan was to start on Blackwell and then work on the Shivah followup when things got more stable.  Alas, Blackwell turned out to be a heck of a lot more work than I'd planned, so that didn't happen the way I wanted.

The main thing I want to do with the followups is to bring the synagogue politics into it a bit.  In truth, the rabbi has little-to-no power in the modern synagogue, and they are always butting heads with the members of the board.  At least, the headstrong ones do. :)

There are two plots that I've been hashing out.  One involves the lost love of Stone's life, the other involves the murder of the president of the congregation.  Both will probably get made.  As to which one comes first (if either), that has yet to be seen.

After Blackwell is finished and released, I plan on taking the rest of the year off and hash out the designs I've been slacking on.  So come the new year we'll be raring to go.

Abe Goldfarb and Sande Chen recorded their lines at different times.  What happens when they are spliced together?

Joey and Rosa argue about sleeping habits.

Joey ignores Rosa's demands.

Rosa asks a personal question, and Joey reacts appropriately.

Oh good.  I'm off limits, but stalking Chen is perfectly OK.  :-D
