Technobabylon / Maximum Saves? Lost Saves

Is there a maximum number of saves allowed in Technobabylon? If so, how many?
If there is a maximum number of saves, does it overwrite more recent saves even when the name of the saves are unique? I lost recent saves but older saves remained in tact.
