@ Mirabell  -  Regarding Peter Fielding, I was bothered with that conversation, as well. I've read through it several times, now, and most of the conversation works as his sister making general comments that merely sound like they're in response to Peter's lines. However, as the conversation winds down, it does seem like they're talking to one another. The writer may have gotten carried away.  ;-)  Or, maybe she has some latent talents as a medium. Maybe that's why she had her problems with drugs.

The Blackwell series / Re: Story Questions (Spoilers)

Dave's story, Dave's ending. In my opinion, the perfect ending would have also brought Lauren back to life, and she would have reconnected with Joey on the bridge while he dumped Rosa's ashes into the river. They would both have lost their powers. It always seemed to me that the relationship between Joey and Lauren was different from his relationship with Rosa. They could have lived out a normal, albeit, undocumented life, together.

Alternatively, it might have ended with a role reversal in which Joey was alive and Rosa was the ghost. That would have been funny, but it wouldn't have ended the series. Rosa could have gotten even.

Edit: Oh, and instead of Joey's tie, Rosa could use those sexy earmuffs.

Thank you Dave (and all the others)!

The Blackwell series / Re: Instant fan

Congrats on the addition of a new Blackwell fan! I suspect Janet might disagree about the "instant" part, however.   :)  Oh, wait... Mark was the instant fan. Sorry, I misunderstood. But, either way, congratulations!

I seem to recall an issue like this in my game. If I remember correctly, the solution involved talking about something with your partner. I'm hazy on the exact details, but do recall getting stuck, briefly. Can't remember if the issue was the station not showing up on the map, or not. It did work itself out after going through all the dialogue/memory options.

You can put me in the list with those seeking more about Joey and Lauren, and what went wrong. I don't seem as satisfied with Joey's past as Midnight, but, perhaps, I didn't spend as much time talking (and listening) as I should have. It seems to me that, as regards Lauren, an individual helping lost souls along their way might have had a problem with pushing someone off a balcony. Whether that has anything to do with Lauren's breakdown, I don't know. But color me curious about that portion of the story.

Another character that evokes unexpected interest was the ssad robot waiting for the bus. I even took time, during my replays of the ending sequence, to see if the game resolved his dilemma. Doesn't look like it, sad to say.
There is an old adage about there being no small parts for an actor, only small actors (or robots, as the case may be).

Thanks, Nevbuilt, for starting this thread! I'm a native English (US) speaker, and I missed some of the depth in this game, until I came across your comments and and Mark's replies. If some reviewers don't like it, they, like me, missed the point. I was even thinking about sending in a "bug report" regarding the mispelling of Redline. The "lie" never occured to me. Getting ready to restart the game and look at it from an entirely different viewpoint.

The Blackwell series / Ah, but can Abe sing?
« on: February 20, 2013, 11:32:49 AM »
New to the forum. Love the series, and looking forward to the next one. My favorite line was from Jamie to Joey, in Deception: Rat Pack Reject. I understand that Joey is a night club singer, but not sure where I got that information. If so, can Abe sing, and will we ever get to hear Joey belt out a tune from his era?
