"Epiphany will be the last Blackwell game"- I really hope not to hear these words.

I just read the latest newsletter, and it contained a rather disturbing phrase:
"We are still plugging away on the fifth and last Blackwell game."

NOOOOOOO! It can't end yet! We are not ready for it!

Finally some news about Epiphany! ...and there was much rejoicing. Yaaaay!

-Looking forward to see the new footprint-mechanic in action.
-Oh no! The Eleven Foundation have been at it again!
-Love the new angle of Rosa's appartment. Great way of mixing it up!
-Another apperence of Durkin. Maybe we finally will get a Rabbi Stone cameo as well?
-She saved the ghost! Spoiler! Now this game is ruined for me...

It looks great so far. Also, where have I heard about Ben Chandler before? In your commentary tracks maybe?...

I have encountered a scripting error in Resonance that crashes the game. I'm at the part when Ed and Anna is trying to open the diary. Just after they opened it, and Anna says "The police?", Bennet walks in, and the game quits, leaving me with the image below...

I think it has something to do with when I switched characters back and fourth in the diary-screen, and then switched back to Ed and Anna's conversation, and instead of sitting, they stood up. After that, every time they started talking, they changed to their sitting animation, and after they finished, they resumed their standing animation.

I don't know if this will help or not, but I decided to mention it anyway...

EDIT: Just checked, and all you have to do to trigger this is to switch to Ed at the diary-screen.

The Shivah / I can't play the Shivah!

I just found out about the Bundle-In-A-Box sale, so I bought it in order to get Gemini Rue and The Shivah, but I can't open the download file.

This is not a problem for Gemini Rue, I can play it on Steam instead, but this was the only option for The Shivah.

The problem is that it isn't in a normal setup.exe, it's in a .FILE-file, and I don't know how to open those...

EDIT: Ok, nevermind. I was able to fix the problem.

Yeah, well, I don't expect them to have ALL of that in the next game, it what just an example.

The main reason that I want something like that scene in one of the next game, is because Rosa and Joey's relationship seems to be "Just Business". Sure, it have grown over the past games, put they still seem to just be partners rather then friends.

When Rosa was uncouncous at the end of Convergence, Joey said he'd rather kill Rosa then spend another 30 or so years in the hospital. You might think: "Sure, he is afraid to be trapped in an eternity of loneliness again, and they have only known each other for a few months, so it's an acceptable reaction."

But Rosa have visited Lauren at the hospital once a week over the cource of her entire life. She might not have been able to see or hear Joey, but HE was able to. You would think there would be just a little more to it by now.

All I'm asking for is a short flashback, maybe in the opening of the next game, to remind us that they have (sort of) known each other for a long time.

AMAZING! I'm a big fan of GOG.com. Too bad I already own all the games on steam, but I like the GOG style of gameversions so much more! Any chance I can get a discount?

Joking aside, good for you Wadjeteye! This is THE site to have your games on, it's the best.
Since both the Blackwell bundle and Resonance(pre-ordered, YAY!) have been put on sale on the GOG-site, is it safe to expect your other titles, like Gemini Rue and The Shivah to be on sale there soon as well? I'd really like to play them, but if they are going to come to GOG, I would rather get them there.

I would like to see a scene that builds the relationship between Rosa-Lauren, and Rosa-Joey. A scene when young Rosa visits Lauren at the hospital.

We know that Rosa went to visit Lauren in her comatose state very often, and it would be nice to see that aspect of her life expanded on.


Personally, I have a picture in my head of 6-year old Rosa going to the hospital, with her teddy Griff firmly in her arms, to see her aunt the first time since she fell ill. Due to her timid nature, she'll probably just pull up a chair, and observe Lauren from across the room.
The next week she might go up closer, to her bed this time. Maybe say a few words, and see if she can get a reaction.

After some more weeks, Rosa might try to place her hand on Lauren's. She's her aunt after all.
Some more weeks might pass, and Rosa probably brings a book this time. There is not much to do at the hospital other than watching Lauren snoozing, so she brings something to read while watching over Lauren.

After some time, she might even try to pull up a chair next to Lauren's bed, and read out loud for her. She might still be conscious, and be able to hear her. Maybe.
Joey, just finished with his daily routine of counting the cracks in the ceiling for the 10th time, welcomes the change of pace and listens to little red reading her children stories. Sure, he might have wished she would read a newspaper, or the tabloids, but he'll gladly take what he can get at this point.

Not before long, he even looks forward to Rosa coming to visit. Sure, she might be a boring little kid, but at least it's better than watching the clouds all day...again...

First of:  -SPOILERS-

Not necessarily. You know how Gavin died? He said he was able to revive himself by using the energy he collected from his victims. He was stopped by Lisa before he could do it, but still.

But I'm pretty sure Dave has said that there is only going to be 2, maybe 3 more Blackwell games, witch I think is a good amount. But if he would decide to kill of Rosa in the last game it could lead to several different ways for the series to end. But I think I have a pretty good ending in mind:


After Rosa finds out that she is dead she discovers that she has the same kind of ghostly powers that The Countess had (Since The Countess could be seen and heard by non mediums, and that she interact with objects, I assume all bestowers spirits can...). This would mean Rosa could match the powers of the organization, and take them down.

Rosa and Joey confronts the bad guys and manage to pull them into the node-space (Like how The Countess did in Rosa's apartment).

Rosa and Joey stands in the node-space, looking at the light. Now that Rosa is dead and the last in line of the Blackwell legacy, Joey is now free to enter the light. Rosa wonders if she is ready to move on, finally to meet her parents and Lauren. But Joey sends her back to the living, telling her that it's not her time (How does he do it? Maybe by using the energy, or the only good person of the organization that's been helping Rosa throughout the game lends a hand).
Rosa is pulled out of the node-space, leaving Joey behind, looking at the light (But we don't see him enter the light).

Rosa is alive, but have lost her medium powers, and can no longer see ghosts. It all ends with her standing at the bridge where she scattered Lauren's aches. She feels a gust of wind blowing past her, and turns around and says: Joey?

I've also had an idea where Rosa is killed of. However, I think that it could be interesting if she became a ghost that is unaware that it is dead herself. And thereby, the player wouldn't know she died. Let me paint a picture:

Rosa and Joey infiltrates a mansion owned by the mystic organization in order to save a friend of Rosa that has been kidnapped by them.

She wanders the dark corridors and suddenly a person sneaks up behind Rosa, and hits her in the head with a blunt object. You would assume she got knocked out and stowed away by the bad guys.
Then she would walk around, wondering why she can't find Joey anywhere.

She then encounters the criminal mastermind. Rosa confronts him, but he only tries to avoid the subject of Rosa's kidnapped friend. He then says he wants to show Rosa something in the next room, something that will answer all her questions.

She follows into the next room, only to find a body located on the floor, mostly covered up by a sheet. Rosa asks if it is her friend, but the mastermind tells her to look closer. She now notice the long red hair sticking out under the sheet.

The room starts to get twisted, and transform into the dark corridor from before. The mastermind loses the illusion, and takes the form of Joey, doing what he does best. Helping lost spirits find their way.

An abandoned project you say? And this was mentioned in The Shivah? Well, I've listened to the commentaries to all of the Blackwell games, and Dave didn't mention anything about the questions I've listed, Tomo or that project. All-though, he did mention several other projects he worked on, like Bestowers of Eternity and Two of a Kind.

Plus some games that he recommended to play, such as Enclosure, Ben Jordan, and Eternity Us.

Hey, I just think I figured out exactly who the villain for the next Blackwell game is going to be. I don't know if someone else have posted this theory, but here goes...

My guess is that the Police commissioner Alex Silva is with the mystic organization that Gavin was involved in. She sounded just like the woman Gavin talked to on the telephone, it would make sense for someone like "them" to be in powerful positions, and her “public announcement” sounded just a bit personal.


On another note, couldn't it be interesting to see a ghost haunting a person instead of a place? Maybe even intentionally. Someone like The Deacon, that knows he is dead, but stays to inflict harm on a living person. You know, the typical evil spirit.

The Blackwell series / Thoughts and Questions about the Blackwell-series

I recently bought the Blackwell Bundle on Steam, and I absolutely loved it. It's a truly great adventure series. I just discovered the games right after New Years, but I waited to buy them on Steam so that I could get the remastered versions.

My favorite of them is probably Convergence. It has a really great atmosphere, a throughout exiting story, and it wraps up the “Joe Gould Trilogy” quite nicely.
It also has, in my opinion, the best character portraits. I just love the style that they are drawn. Deception's portraits were also nice, but the per-mentioned were more fitting. And, plus, they animated.

But anyway, let's talk about some of the things that I have been thinking about after playing through the games, like some things I might have missed, or plot holes.

1: John Durkin
If you remember, he is the father of Sam Durkin from Unbound,  Deception, and I think The Shivah... Anyway, it is said in Unbound that he died, both Sam and Mavis mentioned that.

However, in Legacy, the last letter that Lauren got was from a law office, answering a question about Lauren’s legal rights to raise Rosa. And who is it from? John Durkin.

2: Frank Lyons = Joe Gould?
In Convergence, when you talk to Frank Lyons, he appears to be a schizophrenic, randomly spouting nonsense about Joe Gould and the Minetta. But how did he know these things? He had never been at the Minetta, and he had never even heard about Joe Gould. I didn't even see a copy of the book “Joe Gould's Secret” in his apartment.
Plus, Monique didn't know about any of them either, so Frank couldn't have been a schitz when he lived, or she should have noised.

Did the echo of Joe Gould attach itself on his soul when the Countess killed him? Hmm...

3: Tomo
Ok, this isn't a plot hole or anything, I just want to start a discussion about this. Who is Tomo?
We have seen a cople of spam e-mails from him, selling software. If you Oogle “tomo” a bunch of nonsense comes up.
At the nightclub Munray's, the machine you select songs on is called “Virtual DJ (by DJ Tomo)” and if you Oogle “munray's” they even point out “Special guest appearance by DJ Tomo!”

So who is this Tomo? Is he going to appear in a future game? Probably.


Ehh, enough about this. Might as well be useful and provide some bugs.

Legacy: After you talk to Ali the first time, Rosa's text box reads: “ I should get to bed”, but the voice says “No”.
Also, if you talk to the Deacon after he drops his flask, he still use the drinking animation.

Convergence: If you look at the Countess when she tries to kill Charles, it reads “She's trying to kill him!” but there is no voice.

Deception: When you talk to Lisa over the buzzer about Danny Marconni you see Lisa's normal character portrait, instead of the dark shadowy one.


That's what I have for now, thanks for the great games, and good luck on the next one. I can't wait to play it.
