Other Games / Re: Available for Pre-order: Da New Guys: Day of the Jackass!

Great news!
I never thought the sequel will actually be released (apparently the old demo is from 2005).
I remember the original being a lot of fun (if a bit buggy). Maybe it's time for a replay.

Well, there are other (free!) games by the creator of the game:

Nanobots is the prequel for Puzzlebots, but aside from the concept they aren't related. It is very good in my opinion.
Spooks is also quite good.

The Blackwell series / Re: Joey Mallone death theory
« on: January 16, 2012, 12:10:31 PM »
I think there is a gap between Joey dying and meeting Patricia. No idea why, but it just doesn't fit that he died in 1961.

It's hinted that Joey was born around 1900 - in Unbound he says that he was just a kid when they built the bridge (where Isaac's ghost's is) - which was in the early 1900s (I could be very wrong, I've looked this up ages ago).
However, Joey's clothes and speech style also fit with him being from the 40's.

As for your other points - I think the store sign says Mallone Tailoring.

It's interesting that Linda, Danny and Joey were a sort of band together - kind of a parallel to the "C Sharps" from Unbound.

I don't think Joey's death was murder though - it's pretty much said that his death was a sacrifice. That's not murder (unless they knew someone was planning to murder Danny or something).

If Rosa died, where would Joey go?
This has actually been asked before on the forum. Apparently, Rosa has some relatives in Italy (if you remember, her mother was Italian) so Joey would probably move on to one of them.

I actually expected there to be something between Rosa and Jeremy. He certainly showed interest (keeping that picture around, acting nervous when Rosa calls Joey her 'partner').

As for Jamie, I liked her a lot as well. She was just so friendly and outgoing. I wanted to hang out with her  :D.
Oh, and I found the scenes between her and Joey adorable.

I'll try to answer:

1. It's the act of writing the names down that makes the connection, I think. Remember, in 1973 the Countess was alive and the articles were never published - she had no way of reading them. It was a sort of 'psychic' connection.

2. It was deliberate murder. Charles only took cases that would benefit from a tragic death - the movie, the artist, the rival company. He wrote Rosa's name because she knew too much, and so he had to get rid of her.

3. I'm going to guess he saw her because he was marked for death. He couldn't die until the gallery opened, but maybe his name was written a while before that so he was connected to her.

The Blackwell series / Re: Question for the fans!

I also wouldn't mind going back to Unbound style graphics. Like Nadif, I became a fan after playing the RON games, and that was because of the characters, writing and puzzles.

Joey learned to touch other ghosts at one point (since he could punch the Deacon).

Also, I'm pretty sure they can save ghosts anywhere, since I think Dave said somewhere that there will be Blackwell games set outside New York.

Lots of interesting questions.

Quote
Why didn’t John Goldwater and Claude have ghosts when Frank Lyons did? They were all killed by the same spirit, in the same way.
People become ghosts in the games for various reasons.
It was not the violent death which caused Frank to stay, but the unfinished scene.
This is possibly why Ali had a ghost and Joanne didn't, Joanne was at rest, but Ali still felt a connection to the dogs, etc.

Quote
How was the artist able to see the ‘dark lady’? He wasn’t a medium or an animal. Other people can’t see ghosts in their dreams.
Because of the weird connection they had through the 'false guide'. Maybe the other two saw her in their dreams as well.

Quote
If Joey can only cause light breezes in the physical world, then how was the crazy lady able to strangle people?
I think that the Countess wasn't exactly a ghost. Her ghost didn't appear when she died, and people who are not mediums or connected to her, like Paul, can see her.

Quote
Why wasn’t Alli Montego’s suicide reported?
Good question. Maybe the university or somebody was trying to cover it up? I don't remember the specifics so I don't know whether others knew she was dead already or not.

Quote
What decides the places where ghosts haunt?
All those ghosts are haunting places that were important to them and I guess Ali spent alot of time at the dog park.
A less interesting answer is that it's much more dramatic to find a ghost there instead of her dorm room.

Quote
Where is Joey’s body?
Six feet under somewhere in New York?

Quote
Where is the Countess’s body?
Good point. Maybe the police ignored signs of violence because it was a crazy homeless woman?

Quote
What caused Lauren Blackwell to become crazy?
It was because she stopped saving the ghosts. I guess node-space needs fuel.

Quote
How did Joey die? I don’t think he killed himself.
I agree. It would be too cliche for it to be suicide. Murder is the most interesting reason and Joey does seem like he might get into that sort of trouble.

Quote
Why was Joey picked to be a spirit guide?
My guess is that it's some sort of punishment for something he did in life.
Hopefully we'll get an answer for this question at some point.

Quote
What happened to the other Blackwell women? The medium business seemed to start with Patricia.
There's probably a reason why it started at that point. Maybe it coincides with the Countess going mad, and the need for a new medium, though I'm not sure if it works in the timeline.
Or maybe it has something to do with a certain Blackwell who we don't know much about at this point.

Quote
Will there be a love interest for Rosa?
Lauren's dreams hint at it, and if so then he will leave her at some point.

Quote
How does Rosa not have any extended family?
Maybe she has, but they are very distant relatives so they may not know about her?
It seems like Rosa didn't bother to look up information about her family so she probably doesn't know. She might have relatives in Italy.

The whole deal with Rosa's family and childhood still confuses me. How old was she when her parents died? Why did Lauren have to ask to take care of her if she was her last living relative (did Rosa have godparents we don't know of?), how long did she live with Lauren?

You can type in 'Chris Jones' for some kind of inside joke.

Also, type the name of the guy who sends the spammy e-mails (tomo, I think), for a strange message.

Chit Chat! / Puzzle Bots Pre-order question
« on: May 03, 2010, 03:31:51 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering for how long the pre-order special edition will be available?
Until Friday? Including Friday?

I'd really like to pre-order (all those goodies!) but for technical reasons might only be able to so on Friday.

Thanks, looking forward to the game!

Chit Chat! / Re: Looking for games with audio commentary
« on: March 14, 2010, 07:00:48 AM »
I think all Valve games since Half Life 2 have one.

Ben Jordan 7 has commentary.

Telltale games have a 'selected scenes' commentary where the teams comment on a gameplay video. This is usually only available on the DVD version.
However, you can view the commentary of Sam&Max season 1 here:

Unbound has 17 normal tracks and 6 bonus tracks, and has a total running time of 33:20.

Convergence has 19 normal tracks and 3 bonus tracks with a running time of 32:15.

I think the lines after saying she is going with Tom are improvised, I think Joey even says that that's not how it goes.
