Resonance / Oh, ContentID. You so crazy.
« on: November 17, 2013, 11:42:49 PM »
Ahoy, fellow forumgoers!

I think the last time I posted on these forums was because of a similar issue with Gemini Rue.. strange, but still! For those who aren't actually omniscient, the problem was that while playing through Gemini Rue for my YouTube channel (which I won't link here!), I got ContentID matches all over the place for the music.. which is fair enough, you know, copyrighted music and all.

The problem now is that my channel is beginning to grow, and as much as I really, really want to play Resonance for the first time "on-camera", so to speak, I'm hesitant because of these ContentID matches. Yeah, the videos are currently still visible worldwide, and all that happens is a link to purchase the music appears by the video.

I have no issue with  that, but what worries me is the fact that in the future, whoever owns the rights for the music could choose to block videos containing it worldwide, and that would be an instant death, deletion, can't-be-retrieved situation for my YouTube account. And that's obviously bad...

For those wondering, I have three videos of it up so far, and the latter two have matches on them. Screenshots here:

Gemini Rue / Let's Play of Gemini Rue = YouTube Troubles?

First off, I'd introduce myself here, but I'm saving that for later. Hopefully during.. more pleasant circumstances.

Basically, my issue is this: I bought Gemini Rue a month or so back, and did a let's play of it. It went smoothly, apart from the Direct3D-related loading-after-death glitch, but that's not the issue here. The problem is that having finished my Gemini Rue let's play (consisting of videos 30+ minutes in length), I appear to have lost my ability to upload videos longer than 15 minutes.

Now, while uploading the videos, I got a few Content ID matches for the Gemini Rue soundtrack. I had absolutely no problem with that and acknowledged the claims that came up, as it was stated that they wouldn't affect my account. As a matter of fact, they didn't. I was able to upload all parts of my let's play, with every single video being over 15 minutes.

That is... until I attempted to upload a video today, and noticed a big fat (actually small and skinny, but hey-ho) message on YouTube's upload page:

"Oh, dear", I thought to myself. So, being a concerned, upstanding YouTube citizen, I head over to my account settings to see how this happened. This is what I'm greeted with:

By this point, I suspected there had been some erroneous claim on one of my Gemini Rue videos, or perhaps an earlier, unrelated one. So, I head on through to the copyright notices section, and see this:

Nothing new there; these were just the Gemini Rue videos that had Content ID matches while I was uploading. Confused, I stray into each video's copyright information. This is what every single one of them says:

Precisely the same information before I lost my ability to upload videos over 15 minutes.

Basically, I'm here to ask whether, somehow, the creator/publisher of the soundtrack has for some reason decided to penalise videos on YouTube featuring the music from the soundtrack, or if it's a YouTube screw up. Any input provided would be extremely helpful.

Oh, and the reason I came here rather than going to YouTube is I thought I would simply get a better answer from the creators.

Thanks for reading this semi-wall-of-text.

PS: Game's great, and I'm planning to let's play all of the Blackwell games next, if I can get this resolved, somehow.
