Chit Chat! / Do you have a "Forever" game?
« on: July 14, 2012, 10:25:29 AM »
The board's died down since Resonance's release and I thought to try to liven it up a bit. ;D

I didn't know what to call this, so I called it a "forever" game.
It's a game you always go back to, and possibly play into the early hours because you lose track of time.
It's a game you go back to after playing and finishing some new games you got. Even when the new games have replay value, and you replay them, this game is sitting on your shelf, most likely still installed on your computer, waiting for you to come back to it.
It's a game that you don't know where a good save point is, just like a good book.
It will always be your favorite game of all time.

Yes, I might be weird, but who isn't. :P
For me, my forever game is The Sims. It's a game I got hooked on back in 2000, shortly after it's first release. It's the first game I install on a new computer, and I have multiple backups, even though it's fun to start over.

Do you have a Forever game and what is it?

Just an FYI for anyone who doesn't have some of these great games.
All of the Blackwell games are 50% off ($2.49 for the first three, what a steal!) and Gemini Rue is $9.99 on Steam this week.

Emerald City Confidential / Not In Steam Sale?

Emerald City Confidential isn't part of the Steam sale? I'm shocked. I've been waiting until the Steam Summer Sale to buy it.  :'(

The Blackwell series / Blackwell Help
« on: July 02, 2012, 06:28:56 PM »
I've been playing Legacy, but I'm having major trouble with the difficulty even with a guide. Atm I'm trying to get a name to give the hospital clerk so I can see Susan, I needed a guide to tell me what to do and I still can't get the correct events to happen.  :'(

Phew, I just completed it. Rosa was a nice character and I think her voice acting was a good fit. But on a negative note I feel like the game play was just a case of running though all the dialogue options and walking in circles hoping for things to happen. Are the other games similar?

IMO the games get better as they go along. There's a lot of figuring out what to do, but go ahead and take your time, as the games are fairly short. Unbound was made in a few months, since Convergence was taking longer than planned, but the gameplay changed a bit as you could also control Joey to help solve puzzles. I didn't really feel like I was walking in circles, if the solution to a puzzle came to you. In Convergence, Rosa's notebook combining clues were deleted, IIRC, and in Deception it was entered into the game in a different way, using Rosa's cell phone to even search for what you might think she needs.

I don't know what types of games you prefer, but I enjoyed this series and kept getting stuck on puzzles quite a bit, but there was usually an overlooked solution.

Gemini Rue / Storyline Help, Please
« on: July 01, 2012, 12:38:04 AM »
Hi, I started playing GR a bit ago, and I got so confused as to what was going on that I haven't played it since, but would like to try, so thought I'd ask for help/clarification. My confusion is in the storyline.

I've played many point&click/adventure games, but this is one of my first sci-fi, I believe. I'm only as far as where Azriel is in a hallway where some men are near a door where he needs to find someone. I am now able to switch between scenes/areas.

My confusion is that at first someone is having their memory erased and then the scene shifts and I control Azriel in a town in the rain, and I'm doing ok with that when suddenly the scene shifts again to a character on the floor being spoken to over a speaker, being taught to shoot a gun, then being mugged for meal tickets. After a room full of look-a-likes eating food, and finding a bed to sleep in, the scene again shifts, confusing me even more. I'm in a shoot-out controlling two characters.

I'm getting no idea of the order of story progression, or any order at all, what happened when, if Azriel is the guy who got mugged for meal tickets and is having memory flashes, or what. I'm totally confused by the story, so that in itself is making my gameplay difficult to continue. I'm also confused about why someone supposed to be put out into society would need to learn gun skills, lol.

If someone could help me out, maybe I'd restart so that things would have some sort of "flow" for me. Thank you for your time.

Resonance / Rewiring the Lab Door (Major spoilers)
« on: June 28, 2012, 02:38:56 PM »
I have no clue what code to put in, even, to start the rewiring. I would like to finish this part for the points. Any nudges or spoilers written in white would be highly appreciated, thank you.

I'd like to try to do it myself with a nudge, but if it's way hard, then forget it and I'll just let people tell me how, LOL.

Resonance / Achievement Help Please

Hi, I don't know how to pay off Ozzy without giving him pills. Could someone nudge me in the right direction please? Thanks!

Resonance / Gamestory Question (Total Spoilers!!!)
« on: June 27, 2012, 06:24:25 PM »
I'm replaying and something occurs to me and is confusing. Total game spoiler Alert!

I'm on the subway with Ed and the blackout occurs. Remember in Ed's phone is the number for 14A? (I believe it's A, not B) but anyways... Now remember when Ray and Bennet went to Ed's apartment at the end of the game and got the resonance device from the tripod and Ray was able to call it from his phone, and to call the other resonance device that they found at the warehouse. They were 14A and 14B. Weren't they the ones that destroyed Juno Labs and caused the blackout?

Who set up the device on the tripod in Ed's apartment and set them both off when Ed was on the subway (without his phone in his inventory)? And 14A was in Ed's phone...it wasn't Ed who blew up Juno Labs and killed Dr. Morales. I'm confused, did I miss something?

Resonance / Confused
« on: June 20, 2012, 03:10:17 PM »
Hi, Dave, I'm a bit confused about the Steam voucher. I've never used anything like that before, so I don't understand what it is. I was planning on buying Resonance on Steam today, but apparently there were some issues and it's not for sale yet. (That's why I didn't pre-order, as pre-orders were said to run until the 24th, and I'm undecided which deal is best for me.)

I'd be fine with a direct download link, as long as I could get the game on Steam also. But then I'm reading that people are having problems getting their download links, codes and such, so I'm confused about what to do. I would like the game on Steam when it's available, but who knows when that might be :P.  I'm still considering the box as I like the behind-the-scenes things.

Please help, thank you.

The Blackwell series / The Blackwell Legacy Dialog Bug/Issue, Please Help
« on: January 19, 2012, 08:33:22 PM »
Hi, I have the series on Steam. I started playing yesterday, and when I was speaking with Nashanti in the park the dialog and sound *flashed* through quickly and I was unable to go further in the game without this still happening, so I had to restart. After speaking to her and feeding Moti today, it started again, so I loaded my save from yesterday and avoided her apartment for a while. Now I've gone into her apartment (with Joey along) and again after speaking with her and calming Moti, the dialog quickly flashes by and I'm unable to read or hear the story. I try loading a save file and still have the same issue, so I'm going to have to start all over again. Please help me with this issue, thanks in advance.
