Chit Chat! / New barrage of spam
« on: August 23, 2017, 10:31:10 AM »
Hey Dave,

Just wanted to draw your attention to the new spam attacks. They seem to be clustering in the Gemini Rue and Emerald City Confidential sections.

Best of luck,
Laura

P.S: Maybe Tomo can help with your security needs! c:

Chit Chat! / Kathy Rain
« on: January 07, 2017, 04:57:25 PM »
Hi everyone!

I'd seen Kathy Rain floating around the internet for some time and finally decided to give it a try. When I did I was surprised to hear/see that a lot of WadjetEye regulars were involved in its production/VO.

Anyway, while I thoroughly enjoyed the game, I'm at a loss as to the final reveals. We beat the bad guy...I guess? There're a lot of unanswered questions and in the end, I'm not sure the mystery was solved. I mean, what was it that made Joseph and Eileen catatonic? What cured Eileen? What was the Crimson One's objective, and what exactly did Father Isaac do to his victims? Why didn't he harm Jimmy the same way he harmed Joseph? What happened with Lily? Is the Crimson One a person, or some kind of supernatural being? What about the three orbs? And the kid...was he real? Also, the entire nightmare sequence in the sinkhole. Was that all supernatural? Were those ghosts? Was Kathy high on all the flowers and hallucinating everything? So many questions. Kathy doesn't seem to understand what's going on either, but she doesn't seem particularly bothered by it.

So, any fan theories? What did you all think of the game?

Chit Chat! / Freeware Adaptations
« on: January 23, 2016, 03:35:39 AM »
Hi!

Dave, I was wondering: Do you still have your freeware games lying around somewhere? I remember playing Bestowers and have vague memories of Two of a Kind. I was wondering if you ever considered adapting any of your old works? Or did you only feel that you wanted to tell the Bestower story?

Chit Chat! / Should I play Gabriel Knight 2 and 3?
« on: May 18, 2014, 06:43:16 AM »
I recently got myself a copy of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers and thoroughly enjoyed it even though it was challenging at times.

I've looked into playing the second and third games, but I'm really put off by the drastic change in art style from pixels and portraits to live action in the sequel and what looks like a bad version of the Sims in the third installment.

I dunno, I get the feeling that it wouldn't...feel the same. .

Any thoughts from those who have played the second and third installments?

The Blackwell series / Fan theories about Madeline

Who exactly was Madeline before she died? How did she die? How did a lady with a tiara end up in New York?

The Blackwell series / More games like Blackwell
« on: May 01, 2014, 12:35:18 PM »
Hi, fellow Blackwell fans!

Even though I beta-tested Blackwell Epiphany for a couple of months before its release, I still couldn't get enough Blackwell, so I replayed all the other games the past few nights.

I'm really, really gonna miss Rosa, Joey and the whole experience.

Has anyone played anything similar to Blackwell in terms of style (pixel art, character portraits) and/or theme (detective-mystery, ghosts)?

I'd like to discover similar games and developers.

Laura

The Blackwell series / Blackwell Unbound Re-make
« on: November 21, 2013, 05:36:20 AM »
As I'm sure most Blackwell fans know, Lauren will be returning for Blackwell Epiphany.

I was wondering....maybe after its release the team can work on a Blackwell Unbound re-make (adding character portraits 'n stuff). That would be amazing and I'm sure the fans would go nuts!

Resonance / Cannot move forward: Cellphone 14A? 14B?
« on: June 20, 2012, 05:01:20 PM »
Hi there!

I have reached the stage where Bennet and Ray are tracking the cellphone attached to the device found in Ed's apartment.

I have sucessfully tracked the number 14B, but it says that that is Bennet's number.
Um? This was the number on the device?

In online walkthroughs I've learnt you have to track 14A. That's not in my memory at all, and I've tried revisiting and re-analysing scenes.

I remember a 14A in Ed's phonebook, but how do I get it into Bennet's memory to track it and get to the warehouse?

What am I missing here? Something's off.

Thanks,
Laura

The Blackwell series / Blackwell Deception Soundtrack Availability
« on: October 29, 2011, 05:40:32 AM »
Hey there!

I was wondering if anyone has information on where Blackwell Deception music (esp. Tiffany's Theme and the Epileptic Fish song) can be downloaded?

I think the soundtrack was included in the DVD offer but I was wondering if it's available elsewhere.

Thanks!
Laura

The Blackwell series / Thoughts on "Danny Boy"
« on: October 17, 2011, 11:53:21 AM »
In Blackwell Deception, Dave's newest dash of brilliance, we learn about a character named Danny Marconi.

Note: Please do not read the following if you have not completed this game. Major spoilers follow. Highlight to read.

Marconi, a former tailor and Clarinet player, spent some time at Seagram Assisted Living in his old age and died "peacefully" in his sleep one afternoon, leaving behind his granddaughter, Lisa Tenkin (who also happened to be a phony street psychic who got herself killed).

Lisa reveals that Danny felt a constant guilt over a friend who had given his life to save him. He felt as if he didn't deserve to live at that friend's expense.

It is strongly suggested that this friend might be Joey.

Any thoughts on this new development?

The Blackwell series / New favorite: Jamie Graham
« on: October 17, 2011, 11:40:14 AM »
I've just finished playing Blackwell Deception in one sitting (my butt's a bit numb, too) and have to share, as many already have, how brilliant this game is. The storyline is so perfectly interwoven, and this time around there are plenty of new characters of all walks of life (and death) to explore.

I particularly enjoyed the references to Dave's past work i.e. The Epileptic Fish band (a reference to Dave's freeware games) and the introduction of Cecil Sharpe's son, Ken.

However, my favorite ghost has got to be Jamie Graham (remember, the young bookish college student turned party-goer from Illinois who gave Joey his first kiss in several decades?).

The sexual innuendos make me giggle, and I adored the look on Rosa's face when he walked out of the Lounge with her.

The Blackwell series / The question all fans want answered
« on: September 27, 2011, 06:41:12 AM »
So, Blackwell was not a trilogy. How many games will there be...roughly?

After playing the Blackwell Deception demo, I noticed that Rosa doesn't go into her hallway anymore. She simply exists her apartment straight into the city, without the option of visiting Nish.

Has Nish been cut from Blackwell? I found her to be a really lovely character, a sort of warm 'motherly' figure to Rosa and probably the most 'normal' of all the characters. A really likeable woman.

P.S.: Forgive my triple-posting on the forums today. Blame it on 'Blackwell Fever'.

The Blackwell series / A probing spiritual/religious question
« on: September 20, 2011, 06:32:12 AM »
Please note: If you are sensitive to anti-Christian views, or by any means 'touchy' on the subject of religion vs. spirituality, please do not upset yourself by reading the following.

Hi there! Just a quick question for Dave and anyone else who's played Blackwell.

What exactly is the "infinity light"? What happens to ghosts once they have made peace with their death and gone through it? Do they continue to exist in some form?

Also, what would Joey and Rosa's beliefs about the afterlife entail? Would they then denounce religion as false based on their experiences? What about the "origins" of life? I can imagine Rosa and Lauren would have pondered this infinitely.

Silly question, you might think, but I'm very curious.

I happened upon Blackwell Convergence after playing and thoroughly enjoying another of Dave's games, ECC. Only recently did I play The Blackwell Legacy, and after listening to the commentary, wondered if anyone had correctly guessed the identity of "The Deacon", who is mentioned by Joe Gould (who, too, was a real person) in Convergence and is the second ghost Rosa meets in Legacy.

It's been seven years since the release of Legacy, and so I assume someone must've gotten it by now. Who was he?
