Chit Chat! / Re: Tomas Regin's "Love and Death" song name?

Hi Thomas!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. No, it's none of the two that you sent me. I did some digging and found a Let's Play where you can hear it from 5:45: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMNMCWJOck0.

Hope this helps,

Ah, that one! :-)

Hi Tomas,

I was wondering if you could give me the name of/link to the main theme that you composed for Love and Death?  Or rather, I'm not sure if it's the main theme, but it's the melancholic one that plays when you explore places such as the ball room. I played that game ages ago, but that song's been stuck in my head recently. It's hauntingly beautiful.

P.S: Sorry if this was an inappropriate way to contact you, but I thought I'd give it a shot :)

Hi Laura,

So sorry that I didn't see this post before now! Not inappropriate at all! :-)

Ah, Love and Death. I really liked the soundtrack I wrote for that game. So happy to hear that you liked it too!

Could this be the song you're looking for? http://northbysound.com/thomas/Damon_Castle_Low_Intensity1_2.ogg

Or maybe this?

PS: All the songs for that game were short and looping to save bandwidth.

Hey Noodleman,

Are you referring to the synthy melancholic piece mainly with a piano melody? In that case, it's the Rosa & Lauren theme.

If not, give me a few more hints and I'm sure I can help you. :-)

Chit Chat! / Re: Should I play Gabriel Knight 2 and 3?

The second is my personal favorite of the three. The story is just so breathtakingly awesome. The third is quite underwhelming. But a lot of people disagree with me, so I would definitely recommend playing them to see for yourself!

Hi Emol,

We'll see what we can do. I've informed Dave about the missing track. As you may know, I've made the track available for streaming on my soundcloud-page as a temporary fix.

I agree that arranging the tunes in "best experience" order would definitely be cool! If we decide to "patch" the original soundtrack, I will certainly consider changing the order of the tracks.

Thanks for the suggestions and thanks for the kind words on both the game and the music. I really appreciate it. :-)

This forum should have a like-button for when people request no sympathy, but write a damn good post that touches the people reading it!

I can't take credit for the prayer-book, but I can certainly relate to your story. Thanks a lot for sharing it, Peter.

As a small consolation until we fix the problem, I've made Mary's Theme available on my SoundCloud-page here:

Thanks for the very kind words! I'm glad you like the music! :-)

Holy /#")(/&"#/"(, you're right!! I've totally forgotten to include Mary's Theme in the soundtrack! Ha ha ha! How embarrassing!

I'll talk to Dave! Thanks for pointing this out! :-)

The Blackwell series / Re: A favour in the next Blackwell Game.

Hey John,

I feel exactly the same. Whenever I think of New York, I think of jazz. That's why the majority of the Blackwell soundtracks (and especially Convergence) have strong jazz-influences. However, all the music has been composed from more of a time period/plot perspective rather than the decision to write jazz for the sake of writing jazz, hence the variations between the games. Lastly it also depends on having access to good live players to make convincing jazz recordings. If the next game in the series calls for a jazz score, then jazz it will be. :-)
