I just find it funny how there's one subject about how the game is too adult, and here's one demanding detailed depiction of suicide xD

Had the same problem, altho at the very start of the game (typing character name). Turning it off and on again fixed it for me.
I think it was cause I got impatient & tabbed out or something and it didn't boot properly in the first place, don't quite remember...

No clue about Havana, but to me Durkin looks older than 40. Although I guess people age very differently, guess he's just kept fresh, presumably physically & mentally and is this still working. Not that he's ever mentioned particularly loving his job (afaik?) but I also don't remember any other passions of him, so might as well do that to keep himself busy eh ^^

Unavowed / Re: Great game - but an unvoiced protagonist?
« on: September 09, 2018, 02:51:45 PM »
Generally prefer fully voiced too, but I can understand it would've been too much to record everything twice. And as said, it also works as a great tool to convey *that point*.
One thing I like about that though is that dialogue options HAVE TO include everything you say, so there's less ambiguity. Like, a short dialogue option that reads friendly to you, but as the character says their 5 lines you realise it wasn't meant as nicely.

I guess they mean the picture/scene in the Eddings house? That's my best guess.

I'd be more concerned about corpses, or mercilessly throwing people in front of a train (if ya wanna go earlier games). But options are always great, I fully support 'maturity' settings if that's possible :) Also in the hopes that that might leave the mature of us with some actual mature content ;)

Wouldn't call it insane, plenty things have merch. I might be tempted into buying a nice t-shirt, IF it's Fairtrade.

Game glitched for me there... had the right solution but had to try several times. So... if you think you got an idea that makes sense, try a couple times I guess. If not, check here for a hint. http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/forum/index.php?topic=6789.0

Oh heck yes, all the characters are amazing! Logan in particular indeed, both as in a well designed character, but also as a character I actually like :) Vicky I also like, but I think among the four she's the one I feel like I know the least, so I'll probably take her on more missions next play through. She seems cool though, gotta love a good badass hehe.

Because of a certain other WE game I was wondering all along whether sparing the creatures would help you later on, so glad it did :D Really nice touch to also speak to them again and learn how they were doing that way, esp Jordon :)

Chit Chat! / Games take 5 min to open (Steam)
« on: August 12, 2018, 01:35:08 PM »
This might be a problem with my PC, not the games themselves, but maybe someone has the same issues/idea how to fix it.

Don't remember if it's all WE/AGS games, but I remember the ones I've played recently, Technobabylon, Shardlight & Unavowed all take maybe 5 minutes to start through Steam. Both the actual game as well as opening the setup.

First nothing happens, then the Steam window kinda shifts & goes low res a bit, at one point my mouse froze for a few seconds. Then the game icon appears on the task bar, but no game open itself, even after clicking the icon. Then, later, the game opens and runs just fine (usually).

I got a decent PC, dual monitors, Win10, don't usually have any issues. Tried changing to DirectDraw5 (I think it was?) on Shardlight, but didn't change anything.

So dunno, if anybody has any ideas if there's a fix. Or, if you've got similar problems & think the game isn't loading at all... just wait, it might come eventually haha.

Unavowed / Random Unavowed chat (spoilers?)
« on: August 12, 2018, 01:11:57 PM »
Couldn't find a place for just random chatting about the game, so, here goes? Usually I'd post those random thoughts on twitter, but there's no way to hide spoilers, and none of my friends have finished the game yet.

For those avoiding spoilers:
I played male bartender, mercy everybody.
Bronx: Mandana & Eli
Staten Island: Manadana & Logan
Wall Street: Eli & Vicky
China Town: Mandana & Logan
Brooklyn: Mandana & Vicky

So, one thing I really liked about the game is the room you wake up in. Partially maybe cause it reminds me of Moulin Rouge (1952) ^^ But it's also really nice to kinda have a break, in a way? The room is so calm, cosy, feels safe. Considering your whole world's just been turned upside down, monsters exist, you've murdered a bunch of people & forgotten what happened, this is really nice. Maybe similar to the 'sitting down' mechanic in Life is Strange https://youtu.be/c5EcpT3O0r8?t=5m59s

Along the same lines I really like talking to everybody about the past mission. Somebody mentioned how it's great you're not judged for your choices and I cannot agree more. It's so great that while everybody has their own reasons for what they think is right, they can also understand other perspectives and make the best of the situation. (Can I get a hell yeah for empathy?) And just talking things through again without the pressure of being in the situation is so good. (And yes, I know there's no timer in the game, but shush, it's good at the immersion thing.)

On a different note, I find it really funny regarding having murdered hundreds of innocents you get dialogue option "well, wasn't really me so eh", whereas finding out you had sex with a stranger there's only "Burn it!" and "Stab it!" xD

Anyway, what's your folks favourite (or not so favourite) parts/things you wanna chat about? :)

Haha, worse than a puzzle you don't know how to solve is a puzzle you THINK you know how to solve so you get stuck on that solution... and having a hint that can be spelled in numbers and has the exact right amount of letters can do that xD

For some reason the game glitched for me at this puzzle, had try like 3 times before it finally worked and Mandana ended up walking on a treadmill a few times. Not sure why. So um, keep trying if it happens to anyone else?
