The Blackwell series / Re: Keyboard Problem on Blackwell Convergence
« on: August 12, 2016, 04:47:47 AM »
Hi guys, I have the exact same problem.

Playing the game on Ubuntu 16.04 on a French AZERTY keyboard.

I changed keyboard layout to be able to type numbers (needed in unbound to answer the college student) BUT that won't do the trick to type the "@"  needed to hack Paul Meltzer's email address in Convergence (shift+2 on a Qwerty keyboard).

Shift+2 will only gives me "2". It's like the shift key is completely useless no matter what keyboard mapping I switch to.

I'm clueless and haven't found any solution browsing the web...
Help please ! :-)

Ok. Answering to myself in case it could help someone else.

So I'm actually playing the gog linux version of the Blackwell games and they all seem to have the same problem i.e the "shift" "ctrl" and "alt" keys won't work.

So here's what I did to be able to play the games and continue my adventure :

1- I installed the gog windows version of the games using WINE (to find out I could not use my saves.)

2- I compiled the AGS engine on my system using this link : https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags/blob/master/debian/README.md

3- I then ran the game with it using the windows versions I had installed with WINE and I was able to use my saves and continue my adventure. All keys are functional even with a French AZERTY keyboard layout.

Hi! I'm stuck with this horrible issue as well! I'm playing convergence now and need to enter an emailadress and password. I can fix entering the numbers by changing my keyboard to qwerty. However, for the life of me I can't find out to produce an @ symbol for the e-mail. Please help?

Change your keyboard layout to "English" then launch the game.

It's not working. Numbers work as they should but to get the "@" you need to use the shift+2 short cut on a qwerty keyboard. Unfortunately, the shift key does not seem to work. shift+2 only result in a "2". No matter what keyboard setting is used.

I'm totally stuck. :-(
