Title: Recording voices
Post by: nicalee on July 26, 2010, 12:24:25 AM
May I ask what program is used to record the voices in these games? From the Puzzle Bots' recording session videos, I saw that it was recorded at home, I think, and they come out excellent in the game. :) And I've read some time ago that Dave voiced the devil in Blackwell Legacy. How was his voice lowered?  ;D

Hi Nic. I record and edit the voice footage using a free program called "Audacity." (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Faudacity.sourceforge.net%2F&ei=RdBNTKnvNcT_lgfM5p32DQ&usg=AFQjCNEjZ2LIXUq09FvorQJKXfovOmNfWg) It's pretty handy!

As for how I did the devil... it's been a long time that I forgot!  I know I added an echo and I lowered  the pitch... and maybe something else.  I know for sure that I talked about how I did it during the in-game commentary.  If you have the commentary active when you first hear the devil speak, you'll hear how it was done.
