Title: Primordia is now available!
Post by: DaveGilbert on November 13, 2012, 01:20:07 PM
The day is finally here! Primordia is now available (http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/primordia.html)

As usual, there are two purchase options for you. You can buy a physical version of the game - a DVD in hard snapcase - for $19.99 (includes worldwide shipping). OR you can buy a digital version of the game for $9.99 - with a 10% discount during the pre-order period!

But what, you may ask, about Steam? Well, unfortunately Valve has declined to take our game this time around. Instead, asking us to submit the game through their Project Greenlight system. So if you would like to play Primordia on Steam, please vote for it on Greenlight! (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=108108057)

What about GOG? I know it will be there eventually, but will the purchase here entitle to a redeem code for GOG like Resonance?

I am hoping so! They gave me Resonance codes so I assume they'll give me codes for Primordia as well.

I hope as well. Thank you for the reply. Too bad you didn't make it for the box case.

Actually it added tax to my order also. I thought it was strange.

That should have been fixed. If it taxed you, email me the receipt and I'll forward it to the guys at BMT.

It looks amazing (apart from the strange resolution mismatch that there seems to be sometimes), I'm definitely going to go for the disc edition again.

Would it be possible to pack them a little more securely this time (for international orders at least)? My Resonance box was a bit dented and my Blackwell Deception DVD case was cracked (just swapped the label and disc with something I didn't care about).

I really would like to pre order the game, but since my Notebook isn‘t the best in town, would it be nice if you could tell me the system requierements. Needed Shaders etc. (Resonance worked)

If Resonance worked, than Primordia should definitely work. We used the same engine, and don't use any plugins, so you should be fine. But if you want to be sure, you can try the demo when it comes out.

Pre-order done! Really looking forward to start this adventure. Really loved Gemini Rue.

Aha! I see the problem. You're buying the digital version of the game, which requires VAT by law. The physical version does not, so we were able to remove it without getting into trouble. Sorry about that.

oh sorry I totally misread the resonance post, I thought the tax was only for physical item. Ordering the game right now, thanks for your fantastic games :)

I pre-ordered this from GoG.com instantly when I saw it. I don't dare to try the demo, because I don't want to spoil the experience.

Hey just wondering if there'll be either a DRM-free or Gog version (Since there's no steam version yet - already voted on greenlight ;p) emailed and available to us to play while we wait for shipping of the boxed edition, similar to how resonance worked.

Also I assume we can send you a proof of receipt and get a steam key once this gets greenlit like I've done in the past with Blackwell deception..?  ;)  :P

From the preorder page (http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/primordia-pre-order.html):
"Purchase includes a DRM-free Primordia download at launch."

What about a demo of Primordia, is there a chance for us to see it before the pre-order ends? For now, as far as I know, it is only given to those who have bought the game on GOG?
That is rather strange, as the demo would seem to be more useful for those people who would like to see a sample and decide if they want to buy the full game, and not for those who have purchased it already :)

Yuri: I know it seems backward. It was part of the deal we made with GOG. We'll have a demo on our site right after Thanksgiving.

Hello

Will the GOG version include the developers commentary?

Rob.

Yep! The GOG version is identical to the WEG version. Although the demo won't have commentary.

i beat the demo the day i downloaded it from GOG.com.
loved the vocals + vocal effects on Ever-Faithful.

Are there going to be point values and achievements in this game?

i recently got many Wadget eye games from GOG, after playing through Gemini Rue i had to do the Primordia pre-order to try the demo (cant hardly await release day to get the full version).

i noticed in Resonance there were both point values and achievements, but in Gemini Rue there were no achievements. (i ran into Ed and Ein from Cowboy Bebop; one of the most awesome easter eggs in a video game, my fav 2 characters from bebop due to pure comedy.)

after the encounter i found out (reading forums) that the steam version got achievements on Gemini Rue. Between the choices of DRM-free and achievements, obviously DRM-free is my primary goal. But i didnt mind the achievement system like Resonance had.

just curious if this new awesome game will share both the greatness of DRM-free and achievements + points system.
the points dont need to show up each time, it can tally it up and be viewed on a sub-menu to not break the immersion factor.

in regards to the older titles, is there a possibility of a future update that might add the achievement system to Gemini Rue?
i have to boot up the Blackwell Bundle games so i have no clue if they have achievements yet at this point on the GOG versions.

loving the games. keep up the great stories and great work!

Achievements but no points.  Victor (the artist) liked points, but from a design standpoint, I felt that they had a couple shortcomings: people should explore for exploration's sake, not to pick up points; and assigning different points to different approaches seemed to channel players in a particular direction rather than encouraging them to experiment. I do like the old school value they have, but overall didn't think they were quite right.  Sorry to disappoint!

awesome! glad to see the GOG version gets an achievements system.

no disappointment on no point tally, i can see if i missed out a sector of the game if i dont get all the achievements; unless its some either/or achievements in the mix. can hardly await to see. ^_^

The WEG download demo has an achievements system as well. Obviously you won't be able to unlock all of them without the full game, but they are there.

I checked my records, and I see an order for Primordia from your email address as of 7:11 this morning, so it looks like you have been charged. If you haven't received a notification yet, it's probably just being processed. If more time goes by, let me know by email and I'll contact the webstore guys for you.

Hi DAve,

I ordered the DVD edition, and 21% TAX was added. Does that make sense?

Also, when can we expect the download code? :)
thanks!

You definitely should not have been charged for VAT. Email me and I'll forward you to the guys at BMT Micro who can reimburse you.

Wooo!  Congrats to Wormwood & Dave and Janet on the release!

Just a side note that I'm averaging ~150k/sec from the BMT Micro file download (tried all three links)..   That is an "old-school" download speed!  Is Steam coming shortly/worth the wait? :P

Now that the game is released here, on GOG and on Steam, are there new information about the availability (or not) of GOG redeem code for the ones whom purchased here?

:o 3 hours to download 1GB, Basicly all evening! Only getting 80kb/s on the download! Are there any steam/GOG keys available ?

Yes, sending the Steam keys ASAP would be appropriate as the bmtmicro servers are overloaded.

My download is almost finished (Yay!). Will the game be able to continue where I left off in the demo when it installs? If not, it'll just be fun starting over. :)

Edit: Found my answer, thanks. :) I just thought of Steam and I'll have to start over there, so maybe I'll just wait until tomorrow, and play around with the demo more for today.

Thanks for the info Dave about the availability of the BOXED version! I've just placed an order for it. It will suit well between the AGS section on my shelf, along with 'Al Emmo And The Lost Dutchman's Mine' and 'The Adventures Of Fatman Special Edition'! :) To me games that were made by fans and other small teams mean much more than best seller titles of large companies.

Just so you are aware, it's not an actual box this time. Like it says on the website, it's a DVD in a hard snapcase. We discovered in making the boxes for Resonance that they were wayyyy too difficult, time consuming, and expensive to make. So we're going back to the snapcase version.

Is there any chance of having Wadjet Eye games for Mac OS X in the future? I'm sure you'd have a good fanbase on Mac as well!
AGS games run on all platforms that support the AGS engine. For example, I've played all WE games so far exclusively on Linux, which works just as well as playing them on Windows (I wish Linux would be "officially" supported though). I think there is a port of the AGS engine for Mac as well. I don't own a Mac so I'm not quite up to par with the development status of a possible port. It could be quite outdated.

Thanks for the info Dave. At least now I won't be surprised when the package arrives. :) However if you could upload the box's art and measurements it would be great! That way fans who bought the game (like me...) could print it on hard paper of some sort and make the box by themselves. I'd love to make one and I might also upload the final result to the FAN STUFF section if you'll make it true. Having the box's art and measurements could be a nice option to have with all your digital copies as well. Think about it - So basically buyers could even create the game box of 'The Shivah' and other old stuff of yours that are no longer available on hard copies. So what do you think Dave?

Oh and by the way: Primordia ROCKS! I've just finished the game! Recommended to everyone! :)

Hi there,

I'm not that familiar with Macs but I did worked with some. Very little though. According to my experience and if you don't want to have Windows as multiboot alongside your OSX, you could always purchase a license of Windows and install it virtually. Even an old Windows XP will do (whatever is cheapest). You might find it on eBay as Microsoft offers only Windows 8 by now... That way you could enjoy AGS and all the games that were created with it, and of course many other benefits of Windows based stuff... :) However I'm not sure if OSX offers any free emulator for virtualization. But if not you could always purchase Parallels. I've checked it out for you and Parallels version 8 costs $49.99. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Gal Shemesh
