Title: Resonance Demo
Post by: Darkwolf on June 13, 2012, 02:24:31 PM
Hello, I Pre-Ordered Resonance and I also downloaded the demo. But so far I'm stuck at the beginning with Ray. I know what needs to be done. But I can't seem to figure out how to make him know when he has to do. I did look at his phone and I assume i need to use his STM or LTM somehow but I'm not sure how to access it with the phone any help would be great thank you!

Hi Darkwolf. You need to ask the receptionist about the mainframe, so turn the mainframe into an STM and use it on the receptionist.

I've gotten to the detective (Bennet)'s section but I can't figure out what to do next. I've explored the alley and stuff and I picked up the brick but I can't figure what to do to find a place to scope out the alley.

Ok thanks Dave. Now I got it. I look forward to playing the full game. But this demo should keep me busy till then. Just didn't quite grasp the interface concept. Dragging objects into your inventory and stuff is a little new. But obviously inspired by your Blackwell series interface. Should be easier now that i know what to do. Thanks Again!

How do I find the code for the keypad to get the guy out of the simulator?

Did you get the book out from underneath the chunk of debris? There's a clue in the book (or rather, the piece of paper inside the book)

Yes, I did. Thanks so much, Dave. The demo was amazing to play, the only thing that scared me was the monster.

How do you wire the keypad correctly to get the door open?

That puzzle is totally optional, and probably the hardest and most devlish in the entire game. I am not sure how to solve it myself! :) There's another - much easier - way past the door. Focus your efforts on the boulder outside the lab.

I'm really enjoying the demo. It's great. But I'm stuck!

How do I get the cover off the USB port in the mainframe? I've got the can of pop and the cotton buds (unused?). But nothing I've tried seems to work :( I've even got the username!

Thanks!

Ok I figured out how to get the username and password for the mainframe and I did the DNA thing but I'm not sure what to do with this search criteria is. or this batch program thing. Wow if i actually was a programmer  I'd actually know what the heck this stuff means. Any help would be great thank you!

Actually, Vince had this idea for a while, and I don't think he necessarily borrowed the idea from the clue combination. I suppose I can see some similarities, though.

I'm assuming you figured out Bennett's problem, so I won't answer that one. If you need help, though, ask again. As a hint for the wire puzzle, work on finding out how much energy each pin uses up, then find out the combination that uses exactly enough to activate the panel.

There's no USB port on the mainframe interface, but if you got the username, you should know how to reset the password. Don't worry about the swabs for now; their purpose will be apparent soon enough.

You shouldn't need any programming knowledge here, although if you remember the days of DOS and text interface, it'd be easier.

There are two things you need to do in the interface. The first is finding out the purpose of the database. I assume you've done that. The other is to find information on your query. If you forget the name, check your phone; that's why you have a memo pad to begin with.

Oh, I didn't even know there was a clue in some book, just found the clue on the keypad itself...
A great demo in fact - I did not intend to buy the game, as it is not made by Dave Gilbert himself, but now I have certainly changed my mind! :)

Well I did do quite a bit of writing in the later half of the game (as did Janet), although the design and plot was all Vince. :)

Highlight to view:

On the paper, there is a symbol pointing to a drawing of a keypad. It's the symbol for pi. If you don't know the digits for pi, you can use the console on the left side of the room. The console has a calculator on it, which has a "pi" button on it which will tell you the digits. The combination is the first four digits of pi.

Hello,
I'm currently stuck at the Juno Laboratory. I just can't find the wrench to turn off the water. Talking to the janitor also doesn't help. All the clues, I'm getting, tell me to find the wrench. But where is it?

Have you tried:

Using some of your LTMs on the Janitor? Specifically the one about him?

The keypad puzzle is totally doable! I solved it. I recommend you get a pen and paper and draw a map of the pins so you know which one does what. It may take a while to get there, though.

Is R. Valdez the doctor your file generated? I think there's 3 different doctors and it's different each time. In any case, if you know his username on the computer, maybe there's a hint to his name somewhere in his e-mails.

Just wanted to say I loved the demo!

The dialog mechanics are pretty amazing, and a long overdue and realistic step forward genre wise..

And also the choice to voice only the spoken dialog sort of finally does away with the crazy genre-convention of the characters speaking to themselves, or a narrator describing stuff.

Well done!  Looking forward to the full game!

Yes, now I see! That Ed guy seems to be very similar to Petra's brother... :)

Don't systems usually have a way to remind you when you forget your password? The doctor obviously doesn't remember his, but if you've discovered his user name...

I'm playing the demo and I got stuck. I accessed the mainframe and completed everything except find file TF283. I tried batch and that didn't work. I tried searching and that didn't work.

 Am I doing something wrong?

Hint: How would Emma look up a file?

Highlight for more hints below:
1) It's not in the mainframe.

2) It's not in any computer

3) Remember that right-clicking lets you "look" at something.

4) Left-click on which one you want to look in, then type in the file number.
