Title: Blackwell Deception Help (Possible spoilers?)
Post by: springsakuratree on October 12, 2011, 03:21:43 PM
Hi, (This is my first post!)

I've been totally addicted to playing Blackwell Deception since it hit my inbox this morning. Unfortunately, I'm stuck. I don't want to give anything away, but I'm at a point where I need to get a baby to tire out and fall asleep. I've been running around this living room for quite a while now trying to get him to tire out, but it hasn't worked.
What on earth am I missing here? I'd just like to be able to progress the story.

I hope that made sense, and someone can help me. Thanks.
-Spring

Hi,

spoiler in white

You need Joey to blow on the a/c unit to make the room hot. The younger Mrs. Haines (sorry, my brain is gone on the names right now!), will open the door leading to the corridor. Then get Joey to walk down there with the kid following. Rosa can finally escape.

Sorry. Now I know! I hope I did that correctly.

I'm stuck myself. I can't find out where to get the key to the Haines Apt. The blond woman took her baby to have dinner with her husband. I know what i need to get in her room but I don't know how to get into the house. Anyone know what I can do to progress?

@Spring: Purplerabbit actually answered your question: it's writter in white on his post (just highlight it with your mouse).

I'm also loving the game and I'm stuck in roughly the same place as you, so I'll hijack your topic (I hope that's OK)!

Spoiler:

How did you get Rosa to get stuck in the bedroom in the first place? I've got the Haines apartment key, but I can't get her to enter it once the conversation with Madison is over.

Thanks, guys!

Haha, thanks Davidaviola, I didn't even notice my question got answered. (I'm so amazing.) I'm not sure quite where you're at, but try leaving the apartment and going back? The family needs to be gone before you can enter the apartment with the key. Let me know if that's helpful.

Darkwolf- I don't know if you're still stuck, but try going back to the nursing home, and have Joey look at the cleaning roster sitting in front of the duty nurse at the welcome counter. Don't forget to pick up a brochure from the lobby and the yarn from Penelope's table in the common room, you'll need them too.

And thanks to you too, Purplerabbit! You're awesome.

I certainly don't mind if there's a thread for stuck people. :)

Thanks. That was a huge help. I was wondering why the nurse was a little snooty when I looked at that.

I'm outside The old womans room but i can't seem to get the key. Used the yarn and pamphlet together but Joey can't seem to blow it close enough. what do I do?

Title: Re: Blackwell Deception Help (Possible spoilers?)
Post by: davidaviola on October 12, 2011, 04:36:24 PM
Thanks, Spring! I must be forgetting something then - Madison's always there!

Darkwolf:

I think you have to blow on the pamphlet once and then on the key. It looks like it's a little bit too far, but you'll be alright! Also, please let me know if you are able to enter the Haines apartment while Madison's gone - I'm still stuck there and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong!

Thanks!

Hi, i'm a little stuck, with tiffany's case.

I only have 2 informations, Rachel and STP.

Any hint about how to advance ?
Title: Re: Blackwell Deception Help (Possible spoilers?)
Post by: Montcroix on October 12, 2011, 04:41:26 PM
Davidaviola, did the elder Mrs Haines asked you to recover something from her daughter in law ? and did you ask the daughter in law if you could have it ? I think this is the point where the younger Mrs Haines and her husband leave the appartment.

I'm stuck myself a bit later in the game, at the beginning of day two, same as frederic09 i guess. I have to investigate about Tiffany and Jamie. But only Joey can enter their rooms, and I don't see anything helpful to do with him. I have the names STP and Rachel in my Note Collectors, and I researched Tiffany Walters on the web, but I can't figure what I'm supposed to do next.  Any help would be welcome !

thanks for the tip
 also to your question
davidaviola: When your Stuck in the room have Joey enter the living room. and blow on the thermostat on the door. the mom will open the door. click on the baby and float out the door. the baby will follow and the mom will leave. then just exit the bedroom and out the front door.

frederic09, Montcroix, have been stuck in the same place for a while, here are some hints:
have you checked Tiffany's mail?

Too dark? Do you have anything to make it brighter in there?

Anything that glows in the dark? No? Have you checked all of your inventory items?

Thank you, Montcroix and Darkwolf!

Montcroix: do you remember what prompts Penelope Haines to ask if Rosa could get something at the apartment? I've tried everything (except the right thing, of course...), but I can't get her to do it!

Thanks!

o.k.  I feel really stupid but I am at the very begining on the boat and have no idea how to get the pine wall open?  Not to mention poor Joey who I keep getting shot all the time.  Can someone send me a spoiler?  I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Kem!

Poor Joey, getting all shot up. :) Send him in to that upstairs room, but don't have him talk to the gentleman with the gun. Instead, look to the right-hand side of the room, over by the door. There should be a poster there. Zoom in on it and see the pattern. You just need to pick a relevant name out of that mess... Hope that helps.

O.k.  I have tried every word combo that I know.  I was never any good at anagrams or making names out of letters that sometimes don't make sense.  spoiler please.  I know I know good grief when I read it I will probably do the Ah Ha thing. :)

There is a hint outside for the name.

Am giving up for the night - I've advanced Tiffany and Jamie's cases quite a way, but still plodding on.

I did notice that when you ask the newspaper receptionist about one of the girls (can't remember which), it's Joey who asks, not Rosa. ;)

I'm not sure what to do after talking to Lisa Tenzin. I talked to Jeremy But didn't get much out of him. The old woman's not talking eather.  I have a feeling I got to look something up on Oogle but I got nothing. Any Hints?
Title: Re: Blackwell Deception Help (Possible spoilers?)
Post by: Montcroix on October 12, 2011, 06:07:41 PM
davidaviola : Penelope should ask Rosa to get her peridot after Rosa asks her several questions about Gavin and how to meet him. Do you have this name in your notes ? if not, maybe you should go back to Madison, I think she's the one who mentions it first.

kemmccauley : the name you're looking for is found on a carving on the boat. First screen of the game, bottom center, right click on it.

Darkwolf : check Jeremy's notes. What did he write about his meeting with Lisa ?
Title: Re: Blackwell Deception Help (Possible spoilers?)
Post by: Darkwolf on October 12, 2011, 06:15:23 PM
I don't have Lisa in my notes to compare anything I'm still unsure what to do. I talked to everybody and got no clues. I can't see much of anything in Jeremy's notes. Any help would be great?

Have your found Jeremy's phone yet outside of Lisa's?

I can't find the phone. I see a mailbox. Joey says nothing inside and Rosa can't open it. I'm sure its important though. Nevermine dumb me. who ever thinks to call themselves. hehe.

also hightlight the message and select change color to white to hide it. for future refrence.

Key still not on pamplet and joey unwilling to blow it all over the room.  what am I doing wrong?  The poor nurse is going to get tired of my asking them to clean the room over and over.

Highlight to read Rosa has to slide it under the door then joey blows it. make sure the pamphlet is tied to the yarn you get from the old lady. then blow the key and it will land on it.

I have a feeling Rachel & Tiffany were in a band called Epileptic Fish. It didn't go into my notebook even after looking up the band name so. I'm pretty much stuck again. Also wondering if the letter in tiffany's mailbox is able to be opened. she can't read it for obvious reasons.

RavenishZero:
Do  you ever highlight anything so that you can copy and paste it somewhere else?  All you need to do is click at the top of the post, holding the button down and moving your mouse down the page.  That should highlight everything that's in the post and if there is a spoiler which is either done in white or yellow, it will show up.
Hope this helps

The passqord is not the name of her dog,I already tried it but it didn't work. Are you sure your not supposed to do something else first? So far I:
1-Talked to her about her studies,so that's cleared off
2-When she asks where I'm from,I answer Illinois, and than she asks what part of Illinois and I only have the options ''Chicago'' and ''A small town'' and none of these work. What am I supposed to do?
3-Oh,and I also need to figure it out what kind of books she likes(HEEEEEELP)

To get yourself untied: On the shelf there should be a glass, get Joey to blow on it, it should land on the trunk. Then use his tie w/ Rosa and move her to where the broken glass is. Let her grab the broken glass and use it on herself, then you're free. I'm stuck on what to do next since Lisa is a ghost now.

I have no clue how to save rosa. Theres got to be something I can do. I'm pretty sure I got to find a Way to Frighten Gavin. its got to be conected to lisa but not sure how to go about it.

I just finished the game, it was awesome!

But to help those in need: Ignore Rosa. Concentrate on Lisa first. What you need to do is blow away that picture of Danny. Then the rest will fall into place.

Hi guys!

I am really getting into this game, but I'm totally stuck right now at Lisa's...I've talked to her about everything, then sent Joey in (he found nothing of importance that I could see), and now I don't know what to do.  I went back to Jeremy's to tell him I saw her, but nothing came of it.  Where/what do I do next??

...and is anyone gonna release a walkthrough soon?  Dave? Darkwolf or CG_Cutie. Anybody??? . Pretty please with sugar on top...

Maybe we should go back to using yellow spoiler tags. :)  Even I have trouble seeing the white ones.

Hello?  Anybody there?

I guess I am kind of to blame for this.  I should have remember that since that color is what we have always used.  Sorry about that Dave.

o.k.  I am stuck again.  I have talked to Tiffany found out her friend is Rachel and I know about Seb and Jamie's love of books but have no idea what to do for either one of them now.  I talked to Seb and exhausted all conversations so could someone point.....push......me in the right direction please.

Thanks

Sarahewarren,to find out the book thing you have to call Durkin and get Jamie's autopsy report and when you talked do Seb,you got the option ''Jamie used drugs'' in your notes right? You need to combine the option ''Autopsy report'' with ''Jamie used drugs'' and then you get a new note and all you have to do is present that note to Seb,look up Robert Ashblee on Oogle and talk to Jamie. As for Tiffany, when you call Durkin to ask about Jamie, you can go meet him in a place called the Cup of Clay Café.Rachel is the barista there.

You need to search for what the initials stand for.
Highlight here:Rosa should have automatically searched for and found what GCT stands for- Grant City Trust. You need to then search for "Grant City Trust" in Oogle. I found that searching for "Grant City Trust" didn't work until after I tried speaking with the ghost again. I don't know why, unless you were supposed to speak to him first and I just didn't realize that.

Ok yall, please forgive me but it's 6 a.m. and I've been up all night with this game.  It's driving me absolutely crazy (in a good way, of course...well done Dave)!  I am stuck and have exhausted all my options...please see below:

***Warning Spoiler Alerts:****

I am on Tiffany's case.  I just visited Sterling Temp Placements and showed the agent my press pass, which did me no good.  I've talked to him about everything...he won't let me in.  I have both "Sterling" and "Ken" in my notes (with all the others of course), but I can't get anywhere or do anymore searches to get more info.  Lisa is no help...my phone is no help...what in the HECK do I do??  Help me please!!!

sarahewarren:
(highlight to read)
Showing the press pass to the receptionist at STP should have enabled a new dialog option ("Blackmail", or something) outside of your notes.  I think I only showed him the pass after I'd exhausted every other option, to the point where all I could talk about was the company's reputation.  The goal isn't to get inside the office, but to get the receptionist to divulge something "confidential".
Hope this helps; if not, try loading from an earlier save, as there may be a specific order in which to do things.

Dave:
I think you've outdone yourself.  I just love how deep and dark the series has become (and is still becoming!), and I'd like to point out especially how refreshing it is to be playing games whose endings leave one wanting more, but also serve as perfectly great endings in their own right. That strikes me as a rare thing in today's industry, where games are often released unfinished and the player is forced to either remain dissatisfied with their endings and wait until the next iteration, or to buy downloadable content.  Forgive my preachiness, but there's something to be said when a game ends exactly as it should; it's clearly a labor of love, and not of profit.  (It's also amazing writing, as others have said.)
Thanks for all you've done, and all you continue to do.

Whew. Finaly finished the complete walkthrough to Blackwell Deception. I don't know when i'll post it. But atleast if someon is stuck I have the complete solution to the game to refrence. (PS. Dave if your reading this I love the remixed music of the Blackwell theme in Munray's I can listen to it for hours)
Also I know it might sound silly, But it it would have been cool if the Limited Edition DVD Ultimate Blackwell Collection came with a  Glow in the Dark Rosangela Blackwell business card. Would make a nice collectors item to true hardcore blackwell fans.

I'm stuck on Tiffany's case. I already finished Jaime, but now I've asked Tiffany everything in my notes but she says to bug off. I see a letter in her mailbox, but I can't get to it. I found the paper that says STP on it, but I don't know how to find out what that means. When I talk to the Barista in the cafe, the only option is to buy a cup of coffee, in which Rosa says she'll get one later. What do I do now?
Title: Re: Blackwell Deception Help (Possible spoilers?)
Post by: Darkwolf on October 14, 2011, 09:14:14 PM
Heres what you do: Theres 3 things you need to do. one is to look at the photo on the shelf in tiff's room. use the combine in your notes to find out that R. Abu is  Rachel Abu. and talk to her at the cafe and ask about tiff. once you do that she'll tell you about the temp agency. combine STP with the temp agency.

Wow, amazing thread.  This is the first time that I've been unable to keep up with the forum posts. :-D

Yeah, I think I'm going to try and do a non-Blackwell game next, just to cleanse the creative pallet (to use an artsy phrase).  Every internal game I've done since 2006 has been a Blackwell, so maybe it's time to show I can do something else. :-D

Thanks!  Comments like yours are the main reason why I make these games in the first place. ;)

@ epidion--thanks for the reply...however, I've done everything you asked and still nothing else pops up in the coversation between Rose and the STP guy.  Showing the presspass (after talking about everything of course) makes him tell me he's definately not gonna say anything more.  I've combined everything in my notes for every possible clue...still nothing.  I am literally going nuts here!

Anyone want to post or email (to sarahewarren@hotmail.com) their walkthrough to me?  Please please?  I think I'm just gonna start all over b/c I am dying to finish this friggin' game!!!

Thanks in advance... :'(

Hi sarahewarren, what about this (please highlight to see):
Talk again to Tiffany and Rachel about Ken - maybe you need to be sure he had a connection to STP?

I finished the game yesterday (jeopardizing my work a bit :P )and I'm amazed with the whole emotional story. And now it's raining outside and I feel like going through the first three games again...

Oh wow! I just finished, and I enjoyed it very much. Joey and Rosa were more Joey and Rosa than ever, we get to ponder upon whether ghosts can get it on and we know that the road ahead is going to get much more challanging for our intrepid pair.
Like others, I liked that the game had a proper conclusion, and yet smoothly intimated that there will be more to come. I realize that's a well-known fact for anyone who's read this forum, seen Daves tweets or read his blog, but for a newcomer to the series it's a good way to establish the potential.
Oh and the twist after the credits? Did not see that coming!

I'm still stuck. Rosa won't enter Madison Haines appartment, she doesn't leave!
I got the key from the old ladys room and Joey says we shoud use it. How do I get in?

Haha welcome to the early-key-getters' club, Mister L :P
--> If you tried to talk to Madison and Penelope and you can't ask them anything you will need to restart/ or go back to earlier save. Talk to both till you will be told about the pendant and Madisson will mention going out for dinner. ONLY THEN go get the key and go back to the apartment, that should be now empty and locked.

And I replayed the previous games today. I love Joey - why all the great guys are either married or dead?

Damn, I should've remembered Al Lowe's saying: save early - save often.

Now I have to start all over again.  :(
Well, it's a great game, so I don't mind. Hope this gets fixed soon.  ::)

Stuck again.   I forgot that you can combine things in the invetory notes section.  Lol!!  Anyway, I know about the boyfriend and have gone to office but can not figure out how to read what is in the drawer for Joey to read.  I would leave a business card but I can't.  Please tell me I don't have to start over from a saved section of my game.

Thanks

Hi I'm stuck on Jaime.  I've exhausted all converstation topics.  I've hacked her computer and read her email.  And I've talked to Seb until he left the bar.  I think I might by typing in the wrong name.  I've looked up Robert Ashblee on my phone and in the DJ music panel, but it's not coming up with anything.  Am I getting a typo?  Totally stuck right now.

thanks

The name you want to Oogle is "Ashbless", and the music panel at the club is for requesting a song from a band that Jamie's fond of.  If you can figure out those two things, plus where she's from (which you should know already based on the emails in her inbox), you should be good to go.  Hope this helps.

Hi, newbie here. And I'm late to this because of the Holidays and because of course I had to go back and play all three prior Blackwells again before starting Deception. And already I've messed up! I forgot to combine the yarn with the brochure before Rosa slid it under the door, so I'm guessing now I need the room cleaned to start over, but how do I do that? I've tried having Rosa go talk to the nurse, but she just turns away and says "Never mind." Did I miss a step?

Obviously, I'm a huge fan, and I =never= post on forums, (and hope I'm doing it right) but I love the games so much here I am. :-)

Yessssssss!!!!!!! That did it, thank you so much. I thought I was going to have a boring afternoon, but now I can play on.

As I said, I'm a huge fan. Found the first game kind of by accident, and was hooked. As a novelist myself, I truly appreciate the writing; not often I find a game I love as much if not more for the story as the play. Thanks for sharing your work!
